Can I download word processor documents (rtf, wps or others) or pdf from my computer into this tablet? Don't need to work with them, just view them when I'm away from home. Does that require a special cable?

You can get wi-fi from the home service providers for about $50 per month. Plus there is free internet at most restaurants and other places around town. Might as well do that than end up paying $300 a month buying cards.

Can I connect an external webcam to utilize with this tablet?
Before purchasing, I wanted to know if I can use an external webcam attached by USB to the tablet? I want to be able to take pictures with the Camera App for some of my artwork to post online.

This tablet only has a webcam. There is no regular camera. May as well spend the same difference in price it would cost for an external webcam and usb adapter to get a tablet with front and back camera to take photos with right to the tablet. The Acer Iconia A500 although a slightly older model has a regular USB plug on it and takes nice photos and has front and back cameras.

First make sure that the sound on the tablet is turned up. If it is and there is still no sound then make sure the microphone on the Skype screen is not set on mute.

There is a man on here who reviewed this and he tells how to do everything extra you want and we did what he said and all worked great and was easy to do. You can call customer service, too.

Are you signed into an account for the app store you are trying to get an app from? I don't know if the tablet uses googleplay store so try downloading 1mobile and getjar app stores to see if you get better results. Also look at other reviews to get more ideas. Make sure you are connected to WiFi first off.
