Would this product still be beneficial to a 5 yo with little to no internet/computer access?
I have read up on the product the best that I can, and all that I see that can be done online is download additional games and check the child's progress. Other than that, is there any reason why internet or computer is needed?

on LeapFrog LeapsterGS Explorer
You can buy the games and inset them into the Leapster. You can go without internet access and be fine. You just won't be able to download rewards from the games or check on progress. You'll be fine.
You definitely need to access a computer to download the audio to the device. LeapFrog also has a parent learning path to check the child's progress in really interesting and informative ways. I think that any child would benefit from this device as long as the audio can be added ( even if the parent is not tracking the progress online).

Hello! The LeapsterGS will need an internet connection for its first set up, after that you will not need internet connection outside of downloading new games or updates (optional). Thanks!
