Questions & Answers for LeapFrog LeapFrog LeapsterGS Explorer

Question

Is the stylus connected to the Leapster GS?

It appears that the stylus is connected on the Leapster Explorer, but I cannot tell if it is connected on the Leapster Explorer GS. This would be a determining factor in purchasing the GS because of the chance of the child losing the stylus.

Question

Has anyone else had a very hard time getting the battery compartment open for the Leapster Explorer GS?

We have not been able to get the battery compartment open for the Leapster Explorer GS. We just bought it because our son's Leapster Explorer wasn't working properly anymore. The directions say to push with your thumbs upwards. It has been impossible. My husband whose hands are strong from working in manufacturing wasn't able to get it. Any suggestions??

We had this same problem. We were able to open the compartment by using a screwdriver to pry it open. It seems like after it is done once it becomes much easier. We can now open it without prying it. Hope this helps.

Apps are connected to your parent account and can be held on up to 3 devices at once. To add the app back on you can always return to the "On this LeapPad" screen in the LeapFrog Connect application. Thanks!

Question

Would this product still be beneficial to a 5 yo with little to no internet/computer access?

I have read up on the product the best that I can, and all that I see that can be done online is download additional games and check the child's progress. Other than that, is there any reason why internet or computer is needed?

You can buy the games and inset them into the Leapster. You can go without internet access and be fine. You just won't be able to download rewards from the games or check on progress. You'll be fine.

Hi Tiffany,

You definitely need to access a computer to download the audio to the device. LeapFrog also has a parent learning path to check the child's progress in really interesting and informative ways. I think that any child would benefit from this device as long as the audio can be added ( even if the parent is not tracking the progress online).

im thinking it would be a waste my 3 1/2 year old has this and its alot of learning to write your letters and shapes depending on the games as well but im thinking a 7 year old who is already in school may or may not be more advanced than this system can offer.
