I purchased a ZTE Merit with net10 service, then found one using Straight Talk. Can I just activate the net10 (Tracfone)using a ST $45 unlimited plan?
I don't understand paying $50 a month for the net10 unlimited plan. I bought it first, for my wife, using the ZTE Merit. Later that day I found the same ZTE Merit using Straight Talks $45 unlimited plan, and purchased it for myself. Can I just add next months unlimited plan using a Straight Talk card, rather than the net10 the phone originally used?

No, unfortuntely you cannot use the Net10 phone with Straight talk even though straight talk also offers this phone. You can only use ATT and Tmobile phones that are unlocked with Straight talk plans
I don't believe you can use a ST Airtime card with the Net10 version of this phone. Net10, Straight Talk, Tracfone are all separate companies that are run by the same parent company, which in this case is Tracfone Wireless.
You can call customer service and see what they tell you, but your best option is to probably buy the Straight Talk version and port your number over from the Net10 phone before you return the Net10 version to Walmart. Hopefully Net10 will transfer your service card as well.
Tracfone, Net10, Straight Talk are all owned by the same parent company. They are operated as separate businesses though.
My suggestion would be to call up Customer Service and talk to them. If they will not budge, return the Net10 phone and buy the Straight Talk one. Walmart's return policy is 14 days.
