I am interested in this computer but I don't see how you would add software without a dvd drive. What is one to do?

I had an all in one a while back and the dvd was actually built into the monitor. On this one however, from the top view there is a "silver square" next to the keyboard - (also a remote) that is probably a wireless drive.
It doesn't seem logical that they'd make a computer wi/o a drive...

Vizio is following Apple's lead in ditching optical drives in favor of smaller and sleeker enclosures. I'm very interested in purchasing this, but I need to know if it comes with a DVD-ROM? I don't see it listed, how do you play CD-ROM games, DVD movies, etc. on this computer if there's no drive?

I resolved this issue with a $46 USB external DVD-RW/CD-RW drive. Just plug in the External DVD drive in a USB 3 port and you are in business.
Actually I seldom ever use DVDs anymore other than for loading software on occasion.

Does not come with DVD reader I have not used one in years anyway, but they are very inexpensive to buy as an addition and plug in thru the USB ports........

We understand this may be a problem for some people, so we do have workarounds for those that need to install software from a CD. There are also options for connecting an external optical drive using USB. At this time VIZIO doesn't manufacture one.

It put out a lot of heat. The base is always pretty warm. I can hear fan noise in the same room when my son is playing video game

There are several vent screens around the base and heat has not been an issue with mine. I use it a lot for long periods. The top of the base plate gets warm to the touch. (Not Hot).

Been using it for 4 days now and as it sleeps whenever I am away for more than 10 minutes I have not noticed any unusual heat from the unit........
