Federal law forbids refilling these types of tanks. I want to say $500, 000 fine and or 5 yrs imprisonment.

Probably, but probably not legally. The dance and gyrations necessary wouldn't be worth the cost savings anyway, and I doubt you could get a proper fill without a pump.

answer 3
Hi Bobby,
No they are not refillable. But as I said in my review these canisters last, and last, and last some more.

One canister will last us for 4 or 5 nights and that's using it as our main camp light very near to the highest setting 4 or 5 hours per night.

Question

What do I do with the use cylinders? Local waste management doesn't take them.

My local waste management company says they do not take these empty cylinders. I called a local propane company and a local business that sells propane tanks and they don't take them either. Any suggestions?

Hi Sandy,

1 canister would generally last us 4 or 5 nights using it as our main light source which meant we opened it up close to the brightest setting.
These canisters provide a VERY safe way to meet your fuel needs.

Personally I've witnessed too many fueling accidents during my years of camping to ever consider using bulk fuel (and they were seasoned campers).

Hope this helps you

It depends what they are used for. In a lantern at the brightest setting they generally last about 10-12 hours.

it is recommended to always use any fuel cylinder in a well ventilated area. Although some folks will use the cylinders in their homes, i would not necessarily recommend it due to the flamability of the cylinder.

Your pressure release valve will kick in at approximately 120 degrees F. At 130 degrees F. I wouldn't expect you to have any prpopane left.

Question

What is the burn time per cylinder?

answer 1
Burn time depends soly on your appliance's burn rate. Check your owner's manual for what kind of burn time you can expect.

The Coleman Roadtrip gas grill will use one of these an hour if you light both burners, or about 1 every 4 hours if you light only one burner. These cannisters are designed more for convenience than economy. If cost is an issue you can get an adapter hose that will let you connect a refillable 20 pound cylinder to your appliance. That defeats the convenience of easy portability, however.

These propane tanks are great. They last a really long time. And I mean a really long time. If you use it for the portable stoves (the double coleman kind) it doesn't use too much propane which is why it last long. Now if you use the propane grills, those take a little more propane. I went camping for 4 days and only used 1/2 of 1 propane in 4 days. So great deal.

absolutely, propane is propane, no matter the size of the tank, but... the connection size does matter, make sure they match

It would depend on the connection that your turkey fryer has. The Coleman cylinder has a CGA600 connection which is 20 right handed threads per inch.
