SPEND THE MONEY and buy at least TWO other one liter bottles. Fill with cold tap water to the line (on the bottle) and store them in the refrigerator. This is what I do now. I was told it helps that the water is cold for the carbination. I take a bottle out of the fridge, make some Soda Stream and when I'm done with the bottle, rinse it and replace it with cold tap water and restore it in the fridge.

I've always just used tap water. I also carbonate grape juice and apple juice and even chocolate milk. Yes, Ive made a mess a couple of times, but if you don't fill the bottle quite as full and release the pressure slowly, you wont have a problem. Minute Maid cherry limeade is one of my favorites. It tastes just like the one you get at Sonic.

Usually leaving the bottle in the fridge makes it cold enough. I sometimes put the bottle of water in the freezer for 10 minutes before fizzing it to get it really cold. Just don't leave it in the freezer too long or it will ruin the bottle.

Our family of five circulates five one liter carbonating bottles and to make sure we have a ready supply of cold water ready to make our favorite soda with, we put about a dozen ice cubes in the bottle, then fill with water from our Britta pitcher, then place it in the refrigerator. Within about 30 minutes, the ice has melted and we have nice cold water ready to carbonate.

A refrigerator keeps water cold at 40 degrees. Walmart carries a light blue tinted, hard plastic, very slender gallon and a half container with a front spigot dispenser, that works great to keep your water cold in your refrigerator to use as needed. You can add ice cubes to your drinks once you make them.

I fill mine myself. After it's completely empty, remove the brass top with a wrench. The threads are standard so turn counterclockwise. I secured the bottle in a vise after wrapping it in several layers of paper in order to remove the top. I went to a grocery store which sells dry ice and bought about 2 pounds @$0.89 / pound. I put the dry ice in a plastic bag and crushed it with a hammer. Scoop dry ice powder into the bottle and replace the threaded brass top. I placed the bottle in a sink full of warm water to warm it up to room temperature. The dry ice turns from a solid to liquid co2 because it is under pressure. You cant overfill the bottle with dry ice because co2 in its liquid state takes up less space than it does as solid dry ice. There is also a rupture disk that will break if somehow the pressure got too high.

There are quite a few place you can get exchange your Sodastream carbonators for a fresh one. Walmart is probably your best bet -- $15 or so for a 60L carbonator. You can't refill them yourself -- they have a special thread and refill-proof valve. You can buy a Sodamod adapter online that will allow you to use standard paintball CO2 cylinders. It costs a bit, but you can then get CO2 at hardware or sporting goods stores for $4 to $5 a time.

I turn in my empty CO2 bottle for a full one and it costs me around $16 plus a few cents including tax. It lasts me about a month, but I drink one or two a day. A Walmart in my area does the refills, but there are other stores that carry the product also. Just go to the Sodastream website, put in your zipcode and a list of participating retailers will come up. You can also reorder online.

No, it should be used with filtered chilled water. I highly recommend buying a Rush Hampton Fresh 'n' Clean bottled water maker to use, then purchase a slender plastic gallon and a half container from Walmart to keep your filtered chilled water in your refrigerator. It has a spigot on the front of the container for easy use and is clear so you can see when it needs refilling at the top area that is capped. The bottled water maker can be used for 1000 gallons of filtered water before you have to buy a new filter for it. You can buy it online. It says it lasts a family of four for one year and installs quickly and easily on your kitchen sink faucet. Everything you need to install it comes with it. It does not filter out fluoride, but does filter out just about everything else.

Hi,
If you check out SodaStream.com, you'll see that the earlier answer I gave was directly from their website. Not sure why, but depending on what package you purchased from QVC, you either received the small sample bottle instead of a 60L bottle. You will get a full (60L) bottle and only have to pay the $15 price and won't have to purchase one at a cost of $30.00.

From SodaStream.com

The SodaStream Mini-Carbonator is a trial-sized CO2 carbonator, available as part of select soda maker kits sold through television shopping channels. The Mini holds 3 oz. of beverage-grade CO2. Depending on your machine model and how fizzy you like your drink, the Mini should provide up to 12 liters of fresh, fizzy drinks before you will need to exchange it for a full-sized cylinder. When it is out of gas, simply bring your empty Mini to any participating CO2 exchange location and exchange it for a full regular-sized carbonator. The Mini may be exchanged for a 60L carbonator (exchange price around $15) or a 130L carbonator (exchange price around $30) whichever is best compatible with your soda maker model.

I bought my SodaStream Fountain Jet from QVC but mine came with a full sized 60 ml Carbonator cartridge and 18 samples of soft drinks, plus bottles to use, and was on three easy payments. I doubt you can exchange a sample size carbonator though. As far as I know, they only come in two sizes right now. My 60 ml Carbonator cartridge lasted me for six and one half months. Local Walmart's Customer Service centers will exchange an empty cartridge for a new one at half the price, or you can purchase a full 60 ml Carbonator cartridge for around $30. without an exchange. The SodaStream soft drink syrups are delicious to use and find or order online, although you will need to experiment on how much to use as tastes vary for each person. I don't usually get the number of drinks it says on the bottle. I am very satisfied with it in that I no longer have to carry heavy drinks home from the store. Once you get adjusted to using it, you will like it. You might check with the SodaStream.com website to see if your sample carbonator can be exchanged for a larger one.

If you replace the cap tightly, the fizz will last as long as the soda. If you leave the cap loose, as with any carbonated drink/bottle, the gas escapes and you will have a flat drink. Leave the cap open from the bottle the least amount of time that you can (open, pour, immediately close tightly). My wife has a tendency to leave the cap loose and it's flat within an hour. Also refrigeration helps the gas stay dissolved in the liquid.

I HAVE HAD FIZZ LAST GREAT FOR 3 DAYS. EVEN A LITTLE LONGER.

IF YOU JUST MAKE SELTZER WATER AND FIZZ GOES OUT(NO FLAVORING IN BOTTLE) AND LOSES FIZZ, ALL YOU HAVE TO DUE TO REFRESH IS TO FILL BOTTLE BACK TO TOP LINE AND RE CARBONATE. GREAT RESULTS.

I JUST KEEP SELTZER IN BOTTLES AND AD SYRUP FOR INDIVIDUAL SERVINGS OR BETTER YET, GET THE PINT SIZE BOTTLES AND JUST POUR SELTZER INTO IT AND MAKE PINT AT A TIME.

DO NOT RECARBONATE IF HAS SYRUP OR YOU MAY HAVE A MESS!!
