Beet pulp provides beneficial fiber that is necessary for maximum digestion and the health of the canine digestive system. Additionally, beet pulp has been shown to provide good stool characteristics… without compromising the digestibility of a dog food’s other nutrients.

Fiber from beet pulp has the benefits of adding bulk and moisture to animal stools while providing an energy source that can improve the health of the colon (beet pulp is beneficial to the intestinal bacteria that help maintain colon health). Question

Is it ok to feed my african mastiff puppy( 16week old) the lamb & rice dog foog?

He seems to be having a food allergy. I was feeding him Iams large breed puppy food, but wanted to see if maybe this more natural food could better his allergy. I was unable to find a pure balance for puppy, but read somewhere that this type was ok for all life stages. I am wondering if it would have the right balance for a large puppy breed?

Thank you.

Although my little guy is a bit older than your puppy, he too has a sensitivity to any dog food with grains. I had to take him off any grain based food, or treat sometime ago and since then no problems. I'd say this Pure Balance dog food would in fact be GREAT for any puppy or dog with allergies or sensitivities.

What you might want to do is buy the smallest bag available and VERY SLOWLY transition him over to this stuff. Fair warning though, my little guy transitioned himself over to the Pure Balance dry and canned on a rather sudden basis. It might help the transitioning if you also buy some of the Pure Balance canned and mix a bit of the canned with the dry either in the morning or evening.

I personally don't think you can go wrong with this Pure Balance food, it's a great price, it's designed specially to be no grain, and dogs seems to love it. At least mine does!!! As for the issue of "puppy food versus dog food" that is more marketing than real need, in my opinion anyway. That isn't to say puppy food doesn't have its place but I don't think it is necessarily required. A good diet is much better than simply sticking to puppy food.

I don't think you will be sorry if you try this and do a SLOW transition from his current food to this. Good Luck!!!!

It seems to help our dogs, they have allergies to some food esp: corn. You could certainly try a small amount and see. Lamb and rice also seems to be very tasty.
