Beet pulp provides beneficial fiber that is necessary for maximum digestion and the health of the canine digestive system. Additionally, beet pulp has been shown to provide good stool characteristics… without compromising the digestibility of a dog food’s other nutrients.

Fiber from beet pulp has the benefits of adding bulk and moisture to animal stools while providing an energy source that can improve the health of the colon (beet pulp is beneficial to the intestinal bacteria that help maintain colon health). I'm not for sure without knowing anything about your dogs but mine had gotten so bad that all of hair fell out and her skin was actually starting to die and fall off (from all of the meds she has to take), since she has been on the Lamb and Rice her hair has grown back and her skin seems to be healing.
Hope this helps, Good luck.

For most allergic dogs, the Pure Balance Grain Free formula is a good first try, as allergy to Salmon and pea proteins would be relatively rare, so the protein sources in this formula may help a dog with more common food allergies (beef, chicken, egg) or any grain allergy issues. Also, the diet has good sources of essential fats and oils derived from the fish that can help maintain healthier skin and coat. I would keep on the Grain Free for at least 4-6 weeks to allow the changes to occur. If the improvements aren’t impressive, you can always transition slowly to the Lamb and Rice.
