It has a virtual keyboard. I have found that it is much easier to use the voice recorder when doing text. You can also use the voice recorder for emails too. Just have to remember to speak slowly and carefully.

Although the Proclaim offers a virtual keyboard, it will not offer a physical keyboard.

The phone does not need wifi, however, I use wifi whenever possible. The phone uses 3g, and I can access most everything I need to through that, BUT I have heard of others getting their data throttled once they stated downloading movies from Netflix.

The Straight Talk service on this phone is through Verizon. Since it is America's largest, most reliable network, the mobile data will more than likely be 3G.
If you have access to using WiFi hotspots or your home, I do recommend that since unlimited with Straight Talk is not really unlimited.
Estimates have been out for awhile now that the limits are around 100mb per day/2GB per month. Rumors are abound that ST will either throttle and/or terminate for your account for repeated offenses.
As for tethering or using this device as a mobile hotspot, ST has it in their terms of service that it is not allowed. What also is not allowed is streaming of music/video from this phone as well.
You are basically limited to what the phone can do natively, and through the use of apps from Google Play that do not infringe on Straight Talk's terms of service.

If your service provider and plan support cellular internet, the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim will be able to access the internet through your carrier as well as through a WiFi connection.

There are about 10 different restaurants that you may choose from..Wendy's, Burger King, Olive Garden, etc. In the box there is a card with all the participating restaurants that you can select. Go to gift card site and fill out info and then they will send you a gift certificate.

It can be used at places such as Panera Bread, Subway, and other restaurants.
You go to the website on the card in the packaging. enter the claim code and then choose your card. It will then be processed and sent to you in 6-8 weeks.
I am sorry that I cannot give you more of the restaurants. I claimed my card the day I got my phone and those were the only two I remembered.

SWYPE is a style of keyboard where you slide your finger across the keyboard, stopping on the letters or characters you want to type. It is a nice idea, but I found it too difficult to use.

It is a an application option to the tap keyboard offered by Samsung. Basically you do your typing by swyping your fingers across the keyboard and stopping on the letters you want. I think the phone default is set up for Swype, but I chose to switch back to the regular Samsung keyboard.

Being that this is a samsung phone, any samsung charger can charge it. you can also purchase a samsung charger in any cell phone store or u can order it on amazon. In the search box on amazon.com, just type in samsung phone chargers.

You can go to just about about any store that carries cell phone chargers. The plug ends are standardized for androids.
What you will need to purchase, if you do not return it for another phone since it was not included, would be a microUSB a/c plug.
More than likely these models will not have the separate USB cable that you find inside the packaging for transferring of files from your computer.

Staight talk uses various networks. They use sprint, t-mobile, verizon. it all depends on the phone u purchase. The samsung galaxy proclaim uses verizon network. Just call straight talk with the name and model of the phone of ur choice. Based on the phone and where u live, they will tell you which network the phone uses.

Straight Talk actually uses all the major carriers. AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile. If you look on the boxes, you will see codes like below. That shows network and carrier.

No plan or minutes come with the phone, and it also requires a phone card that includes data. I purchased a 6 month card for about $275 (tax included) and that worked out to be slightly more then $45/mo

Details on the service plan would be best answered by a Wal-Mart sales associate or a sales or support person who works directly with the StraightTalk service. Samsung makes the phones, but we don't control the service costs or details.

No, this phone does not have a SIM card. It runs on the Verizon network. The androids that run on Sprint do not take SIM cards either so you have to be careful if you don't want a Sprint network phone. I only know of 2 that run on Verizon and they are the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim and the LG Optimus Zip. Hope this helps.
