does not brown the top, but you will have plenty of drippings for gravy. Use a little liquid kitchen bouquet. that will brown the gravy.

answer 4
yes it does both! I just did a 20lb roast plus fixings. I started with high temp for browning but had to turn meat since I didnt use the roasting rack. Later, reduced temp for rest of cooking. It was moist tender yet with nice crust.

So much droppings I did gravy and saved droppings for another stew

Do not use this to cook a turkey!
Use a Brinkmann electric smoker with just water no wood chips or anything else and it will come out beautifully. We leave it with the bowl of water all night and go to bed and the 22-28 pound turkey is perfect looking, juicy and perfect tasting. If you live in a cold climate it may take more than 8 hours, if you cook in the summer it will take less. Always check the water bowl midway to refill it if needed.

usually it's 325 degrees at about 15 minutes per pound, which is standard, check your turkey every 1/2 hour to hour using this roaster as it will cook your turkey a little quicker

The book says 15 to 17 minutes for a fresh turkey on 350 degrees. It says their "approximate times" It also says that reducing temp and increasing time will result in a browner, crispier crust.

I'd read the same reviews.. and mine did NOT come with the 3 trays, either....

However, I'd had a similar type of roaster oven in the past, that DID come with the 3 trays, and never used them... found I was always taking out the trays and storing them until it was time to put the roaster oven away... and then putting the trays back in them.

Since it has a rack for roasting, you could always put your own trays/ovenware in for serving.....

It will burn on the bottom if you use this product, be dry on the top and probably raw in the center.
Get a Brinkmann electric smoker and only use water in it and nothing else to get the best cooked turkey you've ever seen or tasted.

I've used it on a counter top, as well as on the smooth stove top....

Not much heat generated to counter... warm to the touch, though.

And DO keep it (and its cord) away from babies and children!

answer 2
I set mine up on the counter top, kitchen table...even outside...I would NOT set it on the stove, this would be counter-productive.
the objective is to free up your stove for other things that need to be cooked.
I found this model din't produce the exterior heat that my old one did, which was nice because it did not contribute to the heat in the house during cooking the big meal.

You'd be better off to use a good healthy spraying of PAM and it will be very easy clean up. If you bake a cheap foil pan and try to lift it out of this it will break and you'll have turkey on the floor.
