answer 4
Most all semi-automatic long guns are "gas operated," or they are recoil blowback operated (small/handgun calibre.) I think you meant is it Direct Impingement, gas going directly to the bolt, causing burned powder to dirty up, or foul, the action; or Piston operated, either short or long stroke.
In a Piston gun, gas only goes to a piston, forcing linkages to complete the firing cycle, the gas bleeds off right there. These are much more expensive, and run cleaner, the genuine benefit of a Piston gun running cleaner, is up for some argument among experts. If you think a firearm can work without cleaning, stay at the far end of the range, so I don't get hit by your shrapnel, when it blows up.
All AR/M-16 types were D. I., until fairly recently. Just as all M-1s, M14s, and AK's are Piston. Ruger 10/22s, as an example, are Blowback operated. Hope this helps.

5.56x45 and .223. Do not use 5.56x45 in a rifle labeled just .223. You can safely use .223 ammo in a rifle labeled 5.56 however. Sometimes they are labeled 5.56/.223.

I have shot accurately, using not only the 3x one it comes with but different optics as well, at 500m.

Also, if you do not shoot a lot, I would suggest that you use a higher power than a 3x.

answer 3
Don't know an exact maximum distance, I'm sure the gun shoots better than I do, so with a proper bench rest, you can get great accuracy. The scope itself has markings for up to 600 meters, but I don't know that I would count on being real accurate at that distance, not because of the gun, but because the scope is only 3x magnification. It's more of a close-up combat scope. At 600 meters, your crosshair would be bigger than your target! For long range, get a powered scope.

answer 4
The illuminated 3x scope has recital marked I believe in 100, 400 and 600 meters in an upside down Christmas tree pattern. Its a tactical style scope not a sniper or hunting scope. it is designed for quick targeting not pinpoint accuracy. with my eyesight I'm happy with it up to a hundred yards which is the limit of my eyesight not the scope.
