This phone runs off the AT&T mobile network. However, I highly recommend that you take a look at the Verizon ran phones as they work best thus far.

I HAVE THIS PHONE FOR 2 WEEKS NOW AND IT DEFINATLEY RUNS OFF OF THE AT&T NETWORK. GREAK RECEPTION EVEN IN ISOLATED PLACES. I TRAVEL ALOT AND EVEN IN REMOTE PLACES I HAVE HAD GOOD SERVICE AND VERY FAST INTERNET CONNECTION. PHONE IS GREAT AND SO IS STRAIGHT TALK. I DO NOT REGRET SWITCHING FROM VIRGIN MOBILE AT ALL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PHONE AND SERVICE TO ANYONE.

This is NOT the Sprint version of this phone - the camera orientation on the rear is incorrect for Sprint and/or Boost.

I believe this is the international version which would jive with AT&T and a SIM card

Calling Straight talk would be your best bet. I looked on walmart and straight talk site. No where did it mention a sim card, it would have to have one for for att, so my guess, it is cdma, and would be on the sprint network. Good luck with getting any coverage. Also notice, no 4g, so if speed is what your looking for, you won't get it. I'm sure we will know the answer soon.

Question

How good is the touchscreen?

I have never owned a touch screen phone before and I'm really looking to buy one. The touch screen phones that i have played with before in the past I didnt like the touch screen features, like having a hard time getting the touch screen detect what i was clicking etc. I also text alot and have always used a slide out qwerty keyboard ever since ive started texting and was wondering if this would be a good phone for that or if it even has the feature for qwerty lay out for texting. So how has your experince been with this phone and texting and would this be a good choice for me?

Some screens are resistive, which require pressure to detect your touch as input, some screens are capacitive (like the SII) which use the electrical signals in your finger to detect your input. The SII is very responsive, made from glass (which feels great), and is also multi-touch. It will take some while getting use to not having a physical keyboard. With Android you have the option of using the keyboard in portrait mode which is holding the phone upright and landscape which is holding it sideways to get a longer keyboard.

Be patient, you'll eventually be a typing demon. Also, be wary as you will make a lot more spelling errors. Android has spell correction, so be sure to use it.

I previously had a touch screen, but this is my first android phone and I love it. It is very sensitive to touch and it does take a little while to learn how to use the features. There is a texting feature that I love. You push the mic icon on the text board and it will let you speak and write the text for you. I sure it take some time for you to get use to it.

I have big hands and used a slid out qwerty keyboard. On the S959G the screen is bigger and I have no problems typing. The screen is gorilla glass and have a super amoled screen that is very rich in color also 1080 HD. This is the best phone for the money

Yes!
Also, it has the Kindle built in & you can download the Nook.
In addition, you don't have to purchase books. I use various ePub sources but mostly I use my local library card & to access the millions of free books, music, etc from the world's 2nd largest library ~ I use the New York City Public Library online. Go to the NYC Public Library site site & follow the directions to have a library card mailed to you. After you receive it, follow the directions to register it ~ you'll love it!.

The amount for the phone is more than what the extended warranty coverage goes up to. The most the amount is $199.99. That making me think twice before I buy the phone.

If you pay within 59 days, you will not lose your cell phone number.

When I'm camping in my trailer in a remote area during the 7 warmer months of the year (April - Oct), I have auto-pay so I have call/text/data as that is when I use my cell the most for calls, checking email.etc..

During the other 5 colder months, when I'm home & don't use my cell as much, I have an Internet connection for email, etc., I pay every 58 days for Dec, Feb ~ just so I don't lose my cell number#. That way I'll have call/text/data for 30 days & for the balance of 28 days, I have another, cheaper cell phone that I use my T-Mobile prepaid account that has call & text only, no data. I buy a $100/1000 minutes for call/text that doesn't expire for a year.

It works out really well for me as I get the cheaper auto-rate for 7 months & have never used more than the $100/1000 during the rest of the time.

Paying this way ~ $308+$90+$100=$498, I save between $30 to $42 a year plus tax, compared to paying all months via auto-pay ~ $528 or by the month ~ $540.

It's a small savings, but still a savings. Better in my pocket, then in there's!

You can buy cards @ walmart & activate online or by calling. Certain phones use the verizon network, not all ST phones are on the same network. I read that the Galaxy proclaim in on Verizon, not sure about this model. (Precedent is on sprint)
