LG840G Tracfone

Why does it not work in Fargo, ND?

Where 29 and 94 meet, 840G will get an A&T signal in Fargo but not so much 30 miles outside of Fargo. So 840G maybe not be a good prepaid phone for Fargo if you move around alot. As long as you get a signal you can call and text to Anywhere,USA.

You get 10 to 20 complimentary minutes to try the service and see if you can live with it. You can return it to Walmart within 30 days for a refund. That goes for any Tracfone. Given where you live it's good to know you can return it if you need to.

Easy if you do it online....if you call their cust svc line...it will likely take forever and they will probably mess it up. The website is the best way to go...easy step by step q&a.

Yes, do it online. It is much faster and easier and you shouldn't have any problems. Don't call customer service to do this because it will take forever and you will likely have problems. They are very hard to understand.

Yes, easy to do.

The website can do new phone activation and transfer his telephone number at the same time. It takes about 15 minutes.

I've lost count how many times I've transferred to a new phone. And I'm a Tracfone customer since 1999 with the same telephone #.

runninron69, check the actual Tracfone website, to determine whether the LG840G will work in your area. The WM site isn't accurate, as to coverage areas. That being said, since this phone operates on the AT&T network, if you (or any of your friends) have used AT&T in your area, this phone will work, also. I hope this helps.

Yes.

If you want the easy transfer just go the the Tracfone Website to the Support Menu and select upgrade. Before you begin power on both phones and follow onscreen instructions.

Or you can call the 800# and they'll transfer. Call from a phone other than your current Tracfone and have both phones powered on.

Yes.
You can transfer, time, minutes, and port over your old phone number if you wish from one TracFone to another when you activate your new phone.
Via there web site or with the 1-800 activation phone# that comes with the instruction manual the package.

No, you can't. So unless you want to throw away that money use that phone until the minutes (or time) runs out. I have yet to be able to run out of both at the same time.

This phone is packed with a 2GB microSD card already installed, so that will hold lots of MP3's. The phone claims to handle up to a 32GB microSD card, and pretty much any brand should work just fine. There is only 1 microSD slot inside the phone near the battery, so its not something that you will want to change very often as you have to remove the back cover of the phone to get to it.

This LG840G supports MicroSD cards up to 32GB in capacity. I am partial to Samsung and SanDisk brands. They are readily available at many retailers/e-tailers, including Walmart.

This phone is a TracFone Device and it comes with a new SIM Card. You CANNOT use any other SIM card in it as they bind the SIM Card directly to the phone itself with their programing.

If you are transferring an existing phone number to it, CALL Tech Support or let the Walmart Rep take care of it for you. DON'T TRY TO DO IT ONLINE.

If you want a new number for the phone, you can activate it online pretty easily.

Once a phone number has been assigned to the SIM and it's activated, it cannot be changed, so TracFone would have to send you a NEW SIM in order to transfer your existing number to the phone.

If you have AT&T GSM Service in your area, this phone should work just fine... Got mine last night and it works great. It will also work on T-Mobile if that is the prominent provider in your area. The SIM included with the phone will determine which network the phone will be placed on.
This link may help you to determine what network the phone is configured for when buying a phone. If you have an existing phone, its even easier.

My guess is that it will work in the 38619 area code. Walmart has probably not yet updated the "coverage checker" for this newly released phone.

FYI, I plugged in my own zip code as well as the zip codes for all major cities in my area. The coverage checker told me that the phone would not work in any of them. I then tried the zip codes of major cities in other states. Supposedly the phone will not work in any of them, either.

You can use the following to see which carrier TracFone will use:

http://www.preprepaid.com/whichtracfonecarrier.php

Since you say that you have good coverage with both AT&T and T-Mobile I would say that you won't have any problem with the LG 840G working at your location.

The LG 840G should work at your location. It was a matter of the "coverage checker" not being updated.

Try your zip code now and it will show that the phone will work.
