You need to connect it to your home Wi-Fi or a public Wi-Fi by entering the router information into the phone.

You will have the choice of two options to connect to the internet.
1. You can use the 3G mobile internet provided by the carrier (in this case, AT&T with this particular Straight Talk phone). Doing it this way, you will be under the Straight Talk soft-cap of 2.5 GB where you can be throttled after that amount is reached until the next 30-day cycle.
2. You can connect with WiFi. This means you will have to be within range of a WiFi wireless signal either at home with you own router or a public WiFi such as Starbucks, a hotel, airport, library, etc., etc. Using WiFi, you will NOT be using data that Straight Talk is providing so you will want to try and use WiFi whenever you can. WiFi can also be much faster than 3G depending on whose signal you're using.
The way it works is just like on a laptop or tablet, etc., you will see on the display what wifi signals you are within range of and how strong their signals are and whether they are secured or open to anybody. You then can choose which one you want to connect with.
