Question

Will this work with the new voicemail indicator on my cordless phones?

My Panasonic cordless phones have a flashing light on top of the headset and display new voicemail message on the screens when someone leaves a voicemail on my current landline system. Will this work the same way with straight talk home phone?

Your cordless phone system should work just as it would when connected to a land line.

HOWEVER, do NOT set up the voice mail system that is provided with this service. The Straight Talk Home Phone will provide a basic external voice mail feature which is provided by Verizon Wireless. It will be similar in features and function as if you had a Verizon Wireless cell phone where messages are kept on an external server and purged after a certain number of days.

Alternatively, you can set the answering device on your cordless phone to pick up on fewer rings than it would take to have the external voice mail system to activate (should you set up the voice mail provided by the Straight Talk Home Phone).

I have 8 cordless phones attached to my Home Phone box thru the base unit and it answers all calls first, so if we;re not on the phone, it will activate the cordless base's answering system, as normal.

However, if we're on the phone and a call comes in that we don't want to switch to at that moment (call waiting), the ST box will answer with its own answering system (if you set it up). One of the front blue LED's on the box will blink indicating that it has a call waiting for you to hear. Dial *86, enter your PIN # (done at setup), and it will deliver voice mails it has and allow you to save ot delete them.

Not thru Straight Talk as far as I know. I went to this service when I shut off all of my cable company services due to cost increases. The model you're looking at runs without any internet connection needed at all. If you do want internet service too I'd search the web for companies that provide that service in my area.

Unfortunately, no ...not through the cellular signal itself.

This is for voice service only using the Verizon Wireless network and will not have access to their data network at all.

I am not sure what you mean. It is a wireless phone so it just needs to be plugged in and activated. It has 2 phone jacks so you can plug in 2 phones. They can be corded or cordless phone. The phone jacks in your walls are not needed with this device.

Yes. If you plug a tel. cord from one of the two jacks in the back of the ST box to one of your existing wired jacks, it makes all your house jacks "hot" so they can all answer or place calls from the ST box.

This assumes all your existing home tel. wiring remains intact.

No, the ST box is for voice communication only.

For fax, you can use email with attachments or one of the online PC-based fax services (search Google).

You can port your cell phone number to the ST Home phone, but you can't have the same number on both your cell phone and the ST Home phone at the same time.

answer 2
You should be able to PORT your cell phone number over. This would, though, cancel your regular cell service, i.e., you can't the same number for both.
It is basically a cell phone that you plug a landline handset into.

yes you can but, your cell will be unactivated once you ask the number to be ported to the home phone.

Check out http://network4g.verizonwireless.com/#/coverage, and feed it your address. If it looks like your neighborhood is snow covered, you are probably out of lock.

You DO NOT need Internet for this phone to work. It is a cell phone connection just like any other cell phone? You can activate your service over the Internet or by calling with a separate phone? no internet needed!!!!!!

Nobody seems to remember that although it advertises you don't need a PC or internet connection...the only way to order/receive service is by the use of EMAIL SERVICE. The only way to have an email is to have a PC and internet service therefore this description is very deceiving. You DO need internet, if you want to start and continue service. I feel the description is just double talk, and if you purchase this....how are you going to get service without a PC????????? The description leaves me quite disturbed since the average person probably wouldn't even give this aspect a thought!!!! Buyer Beware

In my 1st Answer, I mentioned a "wired jack" to test in another room. Obviously, no wired jack is needed... I was thinking of a wired telephone (or wireless) to plug into the ST Home Phone box... in any room or location.

You don't even need power if you've got the battery in the box.

I'm really not sure, but sometimes I hear an echo of my voice on mine, which I also sometimes heard with the straight talk cell phone I had.

I can't tell if that is coming from the service or the phones, but it could very well be the service since they are two totally different phones.

Also I don't hear it all of the time, but I noticed it more when standing in some areas of the house versus other areas. So, it may also depend on your service area.

You could buy another phone brand to see if it's actually the phone. Whatever the results, you can either keep it or return it. Hope this helps.

You've probably got some interference in your home. Mine had some weird noises until I changed the channel on my internet router, which was right under the ST Home Phone box. (Best to manually set routers to ch. 1, 6 or 11 rather than "auto" set.) I also put one of my DSL filter in the phone line from my wireless tel. base unit and the ST box.

Could also be other devices nearby... try it in another room, like a bedroom (if you're using a wireless phone with it or you have a wired jack there).

You might have to exchange it if you can't find a source in your home.

does it show caller ID

It shows only the calling tel # but, if you have a phone or system with a Phonebook where you store people you call often, it will deliver the names for those tel. $'s when they call. All other not in your phonebook will show only the number, which is a good sign you may not want to answer those calls.

Works especially well if you also enter a "special ring" for your friendlies, then you can tell right away that the call is one you prob. want to answer. -:)

it shows only the number, does not show the name either incoming or outgoing, as a result I took it back, sometimes the name is more important than the number.
