You will need to contact the retailer concerning the return policy.

You can return the hardware (the unit) for a refund. However, before you can even find out whether or not it will work at your location you have to purchase a non-refundable talk time card. The $15 unlimited domestic calling card is the cheapest test you can do - and the only one most people will need.

I could not get their system to do anything except charge my crdit card for the access fee (fortunately I only ordered the $15 card), which is non-refundable even though I could never use the system.

Good Luck

Yes, return within 15 days with all materials that came with it. No refund on the required service card ($15 for National plan).

However, use the box at top of Walmart product page to check your zip code for service before you buy.

no. This is device acts as a cell phone (meaning it use the cell phone towers to provide you with service, not the internet), you just plug your cordless phone or any phone (not rotary)into the device and it works.

We had previously ported our landline to our cable provider for internet phone service and then ported it to the straight talk. It is part of the set-up process on whether you want to keep your number or get a new one. Our online activation froze so we had to call straighttalk directly and they completed the porting process for us. It took about a week for the number to transfer over. DO NOT cancel your existing phone service until the number has been successfully ported over. Straight talk will tell you how to check to see if the number was successfully switched and an approximation of what date it will be done. We completed the process about 3 weeks ago.

I wanted to go to a plan where no internet service was needed at all which is why I chose the Straight Talk Wireless Home System. My old number was ported through Straight talk with no problems and within the 2 day time frame they gave me. If in doubt, I would contact straight talk directly and confirm the porting won't be a problem.
StraightTalkHomePhone.com or 1-800-299-7784 should get your answer.

All tel. numbers are transferable since we've been paying monthly for that feature... it's one of the fees.

If concerned, check with ST first.

Can you suspend your number with straight talk and resume later with the same number?

To further follow up on my previous posts on this subject: If you did use a "park" service to hold your number, you would obviously have to port back and forth that number each time you start and end using the Straight Talk Home Phone system.

That would be a lot of hassle to save approximately $12/month ($15 -3 = 12).

For practical purposes, my thinking is that it would be a lot easier just to pay the $15/month in those months that you are not using the Straight Talk Home Phone rather than going through the hassle of porting a phone number back and forth each time you start and suspend service. That is, ONLY if you want to keep the same phone number ...if you don't mind changing your phone number each time you activate service, then there would be no charge at all.

My apologies for not being entirely correct pertaining to my previous post. A friend just told me that there are other options for keeping a phone number.

There are third-party services that you can use to "park" your number when you are not using the number with a provider. Costs vary but are around $3 a month.

Here is one example (copy-and-paste):

http://parkmyphone.com/

But the part of my previous response about Straight Talk not offering a "parking" service, I still believe is correct but you can check with Straight Talk to make sure.

Unfortunately, no. I've checked with Straight Talk on this issue myself and unless they've changed things recently, there is no provision to keep your number if you let service lapse over 30-days. Neither can you "reclaim" a number that has been forfeited and put in the pool of available numbers to be assigned to others that want a new number.

Since we as consumers don't actually "own" our phone numbers (as many think we do), there is no way to retain a particular number if there is no service with a provider. Many say "I should be able to keep my number ...it's MY number after all." But from what I understand, that is not the case. In order to keep a number, there must be service with some carrier.

That's my understanding. Not saying that I'm absolutely correct but just what I've been able to gather.

No, it will cancel automatically, when Straight Talk ports your present home telephone number to your new Straight Talk Home phone.
Took mine approx 24 hrs to port and the dial tone on my land line just went away and the Straight Talk Home phone activated and began to work.

answer 2
The way you usually do that is to PORT your number. You tell the new carrier (StraightTalk in this case) that you want to port your old number when you sign up. This starts a process which ultimately cancels your old number and transfers it to straight talk.
You should not cancel your existing service first...that would deactivate your old number before StraightTalk has a chance to activate the same number with their service.

No, If you are moving your existing number, you need to keep your existing service active. They can only move phone numbers from active accounts (which is called porting). Once they port your phone number over, then you can cancel your old service. Hope that helps!

You should be able to PORT your cell phone number over. This would, though, cancel your regular cell service, i.e., you can't the same number for both.
It is basically a cell phone that you plug a landline handset into.

There are (2) places for phone jacks on the back of the ST Home Phone base unit. You can plug in either a corded phone or a cordless phone base. I have my cordless phone transmitter base plugged into only one of the jacks and three other cordless phones running off the system, elsewhere in the dwelling. (I have four total cordless phones running off the ST Home Phone Base). All work great.

I don't think that matters. You can plug two wired phones directly into it. But with cordless phones, I don't think it matters since only the one base would plug into the device.

There are two phone outlets on the back of the device. On one you can hook up an answering machine that have I've seen six to eight extensions thruout the house operating from your power line. The second line should be used for a non powered phone that runs from your phone line. You need three things, this phone, a power inverter to plug your home phone device into, and a battery backup to hook up the inverter too, The only downfall is if the cell towers are also down, you will have no phone service.
