I was amazed that it was as easy to push as my self propelled mower, and even easier to steer! Plus it is lighter (65 pounds), so it is easier to transport or store. I have not tried it yet on my sister's BIG hill, since that is 32 miles from home.

answer 5
It's not hard if you go sideways and not up and down. My front yard is a hill and it works well. Also it is not as easy as a self-propelled mower...a self-propelled mower will go by itself with or without you!

answer 6
This unit is not self propelled so you are required to physically push the unit. The large wheels do make it easier to naviagate rough and or uneven terrain. That being said self propelled takes much of the work out manually pushing the mower as well as adding significant cost to the unit.

The standard mower warranty from Murray is 2 years (or 45 days for rental or commercial use). The standard engine warranty from Briggs and Stratton on the series 500 motor is 2 years (or 90 days for commercial use). I don't know if WalMart offers any optional extended warranty.

That is the standard set-up nowadays. The only way to change that is to disable the safety feature of auto shut-off. I did that to an old mower but it ran with the governor wide open all the time-plus you had to walk around it to shut off. The over-riding reason is the manufacturer recommends this speed (rpm) for cutting just as they recommend high throttle for riding models. The good experience with this is the engine runs cooler at high throttle. I used a Honda 11hp for 6 yrs. wide open all the time and it kept ticking with no problem.

This mower uses the Prime 'N Pull starting technique, with a starter pull located in the handle.

answer 5
No need for throttle on most mowers today. Engines are set to run at optimal speed. Over and under throttle speeds were always harmful on engines and mowing performance. With this Briggs engine simply press primer bulb three times and pull cord. Always make sure you are holding down control bail on top of handle or engine will not start. Release lever or control bail and engine will shut off.

answer 6
I noticed this about 30 seconds after we fired it up.

This is the way it is designed, simplified for more reliable operation.

This posed no problem in using the mower.

Just pump the primer bulb a few times until you can hear or feel it "squishing" gas into the carb and grab the safety bar and smartly yank the start cord.

Most retailers including Wal-Mart will carry replacement blades during the summer months. This model accepts a 22" replacement blade. When shopping for a replacement blade their are many manufacturers so be sure to take your old blade with you to ensure your replacement blade looks the same as your original blade. Most blades will call out hte model numbers & brands that they fit. The model number of this unit is (M22500)

The model number of this unit is 961140029. The 22" blade would be carried in most Walmart stores as a 141114 blade. For any particular questions please contact the Parts Assistance Helpline at 1-888-232-6710.

Question

Gasoline Usage

I have heard that gasoline with ethanol added damages lawn mower engines big time..... Anyone have any knowledge on this subject.

The gas will evaporate and leave ethanol deposits that are like a gum. If storing for long periods of time you should run the mower dry first. the carb is the only real issue.
answered 9 months ago
By
pistol73se
answer 2
It does on certain equipment but I have not had a problem with my Murray at all using gas with ethanol. Having said that, I just paid $50 for a new carb on a gas generator that I bought from another store. I paid for a 3 year extended warranty on the generator and everything was covered except the carb! Read the fine print on any warranty you buy! I will never put ethanol in my rider! The key to using ethanol gas is to run the tank empty when you are through using it! I will also say that I have never run my Murray dry and the carb on it seems to be impervious to ethanol. Its 2 years old and starts right up. Hope this helps.

answer 4
Yes, modern gasoline with the added ethanol can cause fuel related problems. Ethanol absorbs moisture and draws water into the fuel which causes poor performance and over time can harm a small engines plastic components. This is not a problem in cars or vehicles since most are driven daily and fuel is used up or turned more often.
In seasonal type equipment ( mowers/ trimmers/ snow throwers ) fuel sits for long periods of time which allows for this breakdown or moisture problem to occur. POPULAR SMALL EQUIPMENT RETURN ISSUE is caused by bad fuel. Person buys new piece of equipment and then uses old fuel in gas can. Walmart carries many fuel additives or stabilizers that helps prevent this from happening.
