minimum is 3.5L to max of 4L

answer 2
The manual states a minimum of 3.5 liters and a maximum of 4 liters. 4 liters is 2oz greater than 1 Gallon (US). So basically 1 gallon is the correct maximum amount, one pint less is the minimum.

Question

must i use basket each time I fry or can i fry without it?

asked 6 months ago

on FARBERWARE 4L Dual Deep Fryer, Stainless Steel

answer 1
Yes you must use the baskets or your food will stick to the heating elements
answered 1 month, 1 week ago
By
fryingaway
answer 2
I would not advise using any fryer that has in-oil elements without the baskets. There are 2 probes attached to the element that, if damaged, could cause failure of the unit. 1 probe is for the thermostat and the other is for the high limit safety thermostat. The basket would ensure that these probes would not accidently get snagged and damaged.
answered 1 month, 2 weeks ago
By
DaOutlaw
answer 3
You must use the baskets
answered 4 months ago
By
usry28
answer 4
I would think you would need to use the basket as the heating element sits on the bottom of the unit.
answered 5 months, 1 week ago
By
Hersheykiss
answer 5
I believe the basket is there for a purpose, if not than why not just use an ordinary large pot. The basket keeps the food from touching the bottom and therefore less likely to burn meat, and the meat or whatever, cooks with a more even tone, plus it's easier to lift out and drain oil.
answered 5 months, 2 weeks ago
By
Shabala
answer 6
This is designed to be used with the basket.

Also...the book says the product is equipped with a safety switch located on the control panel assembly. If the control panel assembly is NOT placed properly in its position, the appliance will not operate. (you don't look for a switch...you assemble the appliance correctly together and then it should work. But I think my other answer is your solution. Just set it to your temp, the green light will go out, then when it gets to your set temp the green light will come back on to let you know its ready.)

Kcbugsmimi
answer 2
the green light shuts off until set temperature is reached
answered 10 months ago
By
Kcbugsmimi
answer 3
I think you are misinterpreting the green light. You set the temperature you desire. When the green light comes on,place your food into the fryer. Don't adjust the temperature again. What you essentially telling the fryer is.."Ok,i got my temp.,but i want it hotter.. and the fryer says give me a moment. if I am wrong ,then it is probably just overheating, because it's overworked, too hot and the intervals are too short.I hope this helps!

not sure why but there is a reset button in the back. might try pushing it.

answer 6
What I see is when I first plug it in, both the blue power light and green ready light come on. Then I set the temperature and the green light goes out until it achieves the desired temperature. Once it is at the temp I set it for, the green ready light comes back on. It takes varying amounts of time, seems like a good 15 minutes or more if I have it set for 375 degrees.

I would not recommend it. It is basically a tub that the oil is in and can not be tightly closed like the Fry Daddy. I ended up using two old plastic bottles that I had been using for water.

we do. restaurants do so we figure it should be safe for us to do it too. We have had ours about 3 weeks now and used it 3 times with the same oil and everything comes out fine. We were frying in a pan and discarding the oil so purchasing this saves us on oil.

Question

Can I use the Crisco that is a solid vegetable shortening?
asked 1 year, 3 months ago
By
Jean
on FARBERWARE 4L Dual Deep Fryer, Stainless Steel
6 answers
Answers
answer 1
When using solid shortening in an electric fryer you must be sure to completely cover the elements with the shortening before turning it on. Smoking( and burning of the oil) can occur if the element isn't covered. I would advise premelting the shortening and pouring it in, just be sure to put enough in to cover the elements. After that first use the shortening will solidify above the elements after cooling and you wont need to worry about it anymore.

Looking at the "Dos & Don'ts" in the owners manual, it says that Olive, peanut and walnut oils are not suitable, along with lard. They do recommend Corn, blended vegetable, soybean, sunflower and grape seed oils. It also says to choose an oil with a high smoke point and avoid flavored oils. Hope this helps.
