Moonrays Moonrays 47740SP Rechargeable NiCd AA Batteries for Solar Powered Units, 600-mAh, 8-Pack

The Moonrays 47740SP Rechargeable NiCd AA Batteries are a great economical choice for any solar landscape lighting that uses rechargeable AA NiCd batteries. Moonrays use rechargeable batteries specially designed for each unique solar powered item. These batteries charge in direct sunlight and require an annual replacement to ensure optimal performance and light output. When replacing your solar lights batteries, always look for a similar rated (mAh) and type (NiCd or NiMh) battery. Replacing with a higher mAh battery will not make your light shine longer or brighter. The circuitry in solar lights are designed to work with their original batteries and its important that you replace your batteries using manufacturing guidelines. Please recycle and properly dispose of old batteries. This pack includes (8) 600-mAh NiCd AA batteries.

The two batteries are comparable. Lithium batteries tend to be lighter - a feature that would matter more in a personal device like a camcorder or notebook computer where the added battery weight would be more noticeable. For most of our solar products a 600 rating is sufficient.

Sometimes the rechargeable batteries still have a small amount of charge left right out of the package - but mostly we find that they need 8 hours of full sun for the very first charge. These rechargeable batteries are like cell phone batteries in that the strength of the first charge greatly affects the ability to hold their charge in the future. And for your second question - we do not recommend charging them in a "trickle charger". They are meant to be charged by the sun.
