Question

Does this phone work off straight talk network? Or Verizon's?

They said on the news that blackberry is going out of buisness. Will my newly purchased 9310 blackberry curve not work when blackberry goes out of buisness? Why would a new phone be sold if you can not use it? I want my money back if that is the case? Does this work with Verizon's network or straight talk?

This phone uses Verizon Wireless towers. The phone will work until it fails or wears out - if RIM does go out, the phones will still work just fine. Don't take the stories of RIM going out of business too seriously as there are too many happy users out there who don't want to switch.

No, your phone will NOT be useless even if the manufacturer of the phone goes out of business. The phone will continue to function regardless.

Straight Talk does not have its own network. They use the network/towers of the four major carriers. This Straight Talk phone happens to use the Verizon native network (no roaming) and will continue to do so even if Blackberry goes out of business.

Don't worry ...be happy!

Not exactly in the way you're comparing it VZ or Sprint "Phone as Modem" (PaM tether).

There are device emulators freely downloadable from RiM intended for app developers that can display and control the phone in connected state as a windows app on your screen including controlling the emulated session over the web.

BUT, StraighTalk EULA's cap you at 2GB every month at 3G before throttling the account back down to 1xRTT for the rest of the month.

Your question was well worded and to the point that I don't have to describe the rest to you, and your kind of question usually just gets dismissed by trolling disciples warning you against such plans but they fail to understand what they're telling you nor do they possess any curiosity.

YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO DO SO, BUT STRAIGHT TALK REALLY MONITORS USAGE AND IF YOU ARE CAUGHT THEY WILL SHUT DOWN THE PHONE. (I DID SOME REESEARCH ON THIS BEFORE I SWITCHED TO STRAIGHT TALK, BECAUSE I TETHERED MY PHONE WITH MY OLD COMPANY.) I WOULDN'T REALLY RECOMMEND TRYING IT. STRAIGHT TALK NOW HAS A MOBILE HOTSPOT (I NOTICED IT AT MY LOCAL WALMART YESTERDAY.) AND THE PRICE IS PRETTY GOOD.

That's a big question requiring your elaboration of what phone features are the most important to you.

A BlackBerry's strong attributes are long history of functioning as your branch office through secure reliable email messaging and is traditionally sold as a business solution. The reliability is above all others and the device and RiMM messaging infrastructure strives to deliver emails to and from your device across secured networks even if your employer doesn't sanction use of BB's, its difficult to stop even the uninitiated from linking their email to their phone (but it can still be detected)

Assuming the device isn't contaminated with poorly written 3rd party applications it can easily function for months without locking up and without memory leaks that eventually force iPhone's and Android to reboot

The Blackberry is a smartphone.

Smartphones have high speed Internet capability in addition to talk and messaging. Many regular cell phones have very basic Internet, but a smartphone uses a browser and you use it like you do with your computer. Smartphones are basically small computers that have phone capability.
