No contract is needed to enjoy this Nextbook 8" tablet. Think of this tablet as just another PC which connects to Internet via Wi-Fi -wireless-.

This tablet is not like Galaxy Tab or IPad which use cellular towers and require contracts that include data usage aka. Internet.

You pay for this tablet and there are no fees, no activation, and no monthly bill.

Kingsoft is full-featured, no advertising, free, simple, stable, easy to use, attractive layout. And it's more like a Microsoft product if that's what you're use to. Supports DOC/DOCX/TXT/XLS/XLSX/PPT/PPTX/PDF and email and cloud storages such as Google Drive.

There's no Android version of OpenOffice run on Android.

I have the latest full version of "OfficeSuite Pro 7" and it's adequate, has the look and feel of OpenOffice. The thing about OfficeSuite Pro is you have to buy additional fonts to make it work with other documents, like Microsoft Word. The program is $14.99 and $6.99 for the standard font package. I'd say it's worth the price, yes.

The main reason to buy OfficeSuite Pro 7 is that it can be used offline. If you're online you could use Google Drive, which is very nice, and the two are compatible.

2.5mm plug. 5V, 2A adapter. Many generic ones available.
This one works great, 7 bucks, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CMOO6RU

My nextbook AC adapter was DOA, but I didn't want the hassle of returning it for that.

No, it's not a cellular device.

I personally use the Truconnect Mobile hotspot, a prepaid cellular device on Sprint network. Works great. Sprint and Verizon offer a prepaid Mobile hotspot too but I don't need as much data as a prepay.

Folks keep saying these tablets do not have GPS and that's NOT TRUE.

You just have to provide a network connection. I use my tablet on a motorcycle and in my car with Truconnect Mobile device, a Hot Spot, with a Sprint signal. And that setup works just like my smartphone's NAV (also Google) does with a Verizon signal.

Yes with the right setup you can use this tablet as a GPS. I do it all the time.

answer 2
Yes.

All of the map services that use a browser will ask if you want to identify your current location. Then you grant permission to each map service like Yahoo! and Mapquest.

The device comes with Google Maps app, which is separate from the browser version. It will state it too needs permission to identify your current location.

But I personally know that Google Services knows where the device is at all times. I received my Nextbook and it showed the device had traveled from Walmart to my doorstep. Still, when I setup Google Maps I had to give permission to turn on the feature to identify my location. The point is, this device has hardware GPS and Google Services has already 'turned on' tracking before you ever get it.

Can I connect the tablet to my Vizio 55" 1080 TV?

Will I need a special cable or adapter?

You need a 'mini HDMI to HDMI' cable.

While the tablet resolution is 1024*768, using the HDMI cable and settings, it will push HD video AND audio.

I don't have any 1080 displays, but it works awesome on my Vizio 720p.

Am using the 'Movie Player' that came with the device to play video that fills the screen properly with the correct Aspect Ratio.

Am BLOWN away that it does this. Was always wondering where the 'HD' part was in this and today, I found it.

Cable was on Amazon for under $4 and free shipping.

You cannot transfer apps that got from the Play Store to a SD card only if you are rooted. If you have media you play on a constant basis I'd leave it in.

The tablet will function fine without any micro SD card. You only need the card in the tablet when you want to access your pictures, music, videos, or files that are on the card. I would go with the cheapest way to get 32GB.

From a computer to the tablet is easy. From a camera may be more difficult. Here are several ways:

1. Use a USB cable to hook the computer and tablet together. Then "drag & drop" or "cut and paste" from the computer to the tablet using Explorer.

2. Use the computer and an adapter to move the pix to a micro SD card and put that card into the tablet.

3. Use a "cloud" service like Dropbox.

4 E-mail them as an attachment to yourself and retrieve them on the tablet.
