More than likely, there are no good tower output in that area. Don't think the phone is the problem. Once in awhile, there just isn't good tower service in some remote areas.

This particular phone uses the Verizon native network. If you're referring to Lake Brownwood Texas, if you look at the Verizon coverage map, you'll see that there is absolutely no NATIVE Verizon coverage in that area (or at least in ZIP code 76801).

You'll probably want to choose a Straight Talk phone that uses the AT&T network as it appears that AT&T has good coverage in that area.
