Go to facebook.com using the browser. I generally prefer to use a browser to access websites because some apps slow down the phone or use the battery faster. If you use facebook a lot it's probably worth installing the app. If you just visit occasionally it's probably better to use the browser.

Play store> FB app. It should work OK for you, but bear in mind the limitations of the phone might play into it. Occasionally it will crash or if your fingers don't work well you may put it into the background & have to retrieve & continue.

For an inexpensive phone with relatively middle-of-the-pack resources it works pretty well.

Ken, I apologize to you and others who did not find my first response helpful.

Let me break it down and address each part of the response to see if we can clarify any confusion. I don't want to come across as being an expert at everything about Straight Talk but just want to share my limited knowledge on some of the basics.

1. Straight Talk predetermines the carrier used for each phone MODEL it sells. The consumer does not have the choice to change that at the time of purchase.

2. This phone, the Huawei H881C Ascend Plus has been predetermined by Straight Talk to use the Verizon "native" network which means that there is no roaming and service will be with Verizon-owned towers only.

3. The phone will use the Verizon native network for both voice and 3G data.

4. The phone will use Verizon no matter where it is purchased be it Walmart, directly from Straight Talk, or a third-party vendor on eBay (etc.).

5. The phone will use the Verizon network no matter where the purchaser is located or travels in the U.S.

6. The phone will use the Verizon network for the life of the phone while on Straight Talk service.

Ken, this particular phone on Straight Talk will use Verizon native coverage (no roaming, Verizon-owned towers only). It will use Verizon Wireless voice and 3G data no matter where you travel in the U.S. where Verizon coverage is present for the life of the phone while it is on Straight Talk service regardless of how or where you purchase it, i.e. Walmart store, online at Walmart, online at Straight Talk, or an independent vendor on eBay, etc.

For apps, you can't do it auto (unless possibly you root the phone; don't recommend that -- you can brick it easily if not careful). However there are a number of good apps available that help manage moving.

My personal preference is AppMgr III; it allows you to batch move, which is about as close as you'll come to automating the process. It's also good for a lot of other things -- there are both free & paid versions. I *highly* recommend it.

If it says it will not work in your area DONT BUY IT. I made the mistake buying a NET 10 smart phone about a year ago and it did not work. I called Net 10 and they told me that if it had a sim card that it will not work in my area and it sure didnt. There wasnt a refund either, I had to settle for the plain jane talk and text phone. I'm guessing for some reason the prepaid phone companies dont have the technology updated in certain areas. Because at the time I bought that phone other people had smart phoes that worked but with contract from our local Verizon and Alltel. Me and my girlfriend recentlt bought 2 of these Huawei smartphones because the website here said they would work in our area and they work perfect. So dont waste your money. Buy something that works in your area

Most of the phones that end with "G" are GSM phones, and use either Tmobile or AT&T towers.

Most of the phones that end with "C" are CDMA phones and use Verizon or Sprint towers.

Each of the Straight Talk phones will run on one of these four networks. On the bottom left corner of the box, it says which network the phone uses. Make sure you choose one that uses a network that has good coverage in the place you will use your phone.

The H881C phone uses Verizon, so if you do not have good Verizon coverage in your area, you may not be able to use it.

It may have to do with the data coverage in addition to the voice coverage, since this is a smartphone. If Verizon does not have data coverage where you live, they may not recommend this phone, even if Verizon does have voice coverage.

Question

Transfer of contact phone book

I asked this question before and got answers that it could be done. However, I looked all through the manual for my old phone (LG Encore) and found nothing saying it can be done. The SD card doesn't seem to allow saving contact info on it, just music, pix, videos. As for bluetooth, I paired the 2 phones, and attempted to "send via bluetooth" contact phone numbers. It said it was attempting to do so, but then dropped the connection. Hit retry, and got same result. I guess I will have to retype all the names and numbers into the new phone. Nothing is ever easy with electronics.

You should be able to go into the LG's contact list & use its ability to export the data to a vcf file. Then e-mail that file to yourself, open mail with the phone, touch the vcf attachment, & use the export to contacts option.

Stop doing that for every phone you get. Do it one more time in Gmail then sync ur Gmail account to every Android you get for now on and all your contacts will always be there in just seconds after you turn on a new phone the first time. Also it's much easier to manage your contacts from a laptop than your phone.

You can always back up your contacts to Gmail also. You should already have a google account for access to Google Play. Then all you would need to do it sync your contacts on the new device and done.
