From what I've read about other Ascend phones, you may have to do a hard reset (factory reset) if you've tried everything, including taking the battery out, waiting a few minutes, and then reinserting the battery.
Of course, when doing a hard reset, you'll lose all your settings and you will have to start from scratch reconstructing all your contacts, preferences, etc.
To do a hard reset, again, take the battery out for a minute or two and insert it again.
Press and hold the Power Button and Volume key -UP at the same time and wait until the phone vibrates.
Once the Huawei logo appears, release the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume key -UP and wait for the Android logo to access the blue menu in order to reset.
Select "data wipe/factory reset" to delete all user data.
Select "reboot system now." After the reboot, the phone will start like it did when you took it out of the box when new.
Hopefully, somebody here may be able to suggest other things to try before you have to do a factory reset.
