ATT Uverse internet will work great with BasicTalk phone service. The BasicTalk Box (phone adapter) will simply connect to an available port on your wireless router using the blue Ethernet cord we provide you with. Then you just plug a telephone line into the phone jack on the BasicTalk Box, connect it to the power outlet and you’ll be ready to make calls!

Yes. A typical number transfer takes 7 to 10 business days to complete starting from the time you complete and submit the Number Transfer Authorization (NTA). If there are any issues, BasicTalk will email you using the contact information you have on file. You can check the status of your number transfer by signing in to your Online Account and clicking on "Existing Phone Number Transfer Status".

Yes, you can port your number over. In order to do this, the number has to be active, so wait till it completes before disconnecting service.
Remember, if there is a power outage, the device will not work.

Why are you asking the retailer for the warranty information? Please go to the Basic Talk website to find this information out. I bought mine at Walmart, and then logged on to the website to register the item.

To use BasicTalk™ service you need a high-speed Internet connection with a minimum speed of 30kbps, such as cable or DSL, from an Internet Service Provider (ISP). BasicTalk does not supply Internet service. You must arrange for Internet service from an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in your area.

NOTE: BasicTalk does not recommend or support using satellite or wireless Internet technology.

Determine if high-speed Internet service is available in your area.

Yo use BasicTalk service, you need broadband Internet service from a third-party Internet Service Provider (ISP). BasicTalk works with any high-speed Internet service (such as DSL or cable). A router or modem is needed.

Question

Can I keep my phone extensions in the other rooms?

asked 1 year ago
By
Christine

answer 1
I am currently using phone jacks and extensions in other rooms. You can use it on up to 1,000 feet of installed home phone wiring. However, if you have DSL internet service, you still want to use the filters for each phone. You plug a phone cord from the Basic Talk device into one of your home phone jacks, and the signal should route through all of your home phone lines into the other jacks.

Important Note: If you have a dedicated DSL internet line coming from the phone company box on the outside of your home and into your house, when you hook your basic talk device into a phone jack in your home, remove all of the filters for the phones, and be sure to DISCONNENT the regular phone line going into your home if it's connected to the outside phone company box. This is simple to do. Open the box and look to see if the modular plug is plugged in. If it is, then disconnect it. This is usually located to the left of where your phone line is connected. Each dedicated phone line has its own modular jack and plug. I used to have two phone lines in my home, but no more. I made use of the secondary line for my DSL connection. My Basic Talk is routed through my home phone wiring, but remember, that line is connected at the phone company box on the outside of my home. This way, there is absolutely NO interference to the DSL service, and I do NOT have to use the DSL filters for each phone. Works great and the phone service is CRYSTAL CLEAR. Also, by disconnecting your regular phone line at the phone company box on the outside of your home, it prevents the Basic Talk phone line from picking up any interference in the phone line going to the phone company's switching station, as well as keeping your Basic Talk phone signal on a line that is 1,000 feet or less. Hope this helps and can be understood.

Yes 5 mbps is plenty fast enough I have a 1 mbps connection to the internet and it works flawlessly, please remember that a fast dial-up connection was 54 kbps.

In regards to satellite as long as connection is active I believe it should work but you would have to check with the provider.

5 MB/S actually works out to 500 KB/S (actual speed) downstream, and 77 KB/S (actual speed) upstream, so yes, you have plenty of speed. I have the same with AT&T.

They say unlimited, but they do have restrictions and expect users not to abuse the system, as it is intended for residential use. You can look at the TOS that can be found on the website for what they consider reasonable usage.
