I think you might be opening the laptop the wrong way...
reset it to factory settings ....
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.) Enter Recovery in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Recovery.
Tap or click Open System Restore, and follow the prompts.
The Toshiba Logo should be pointing away from you. Then it opens like a normal clam shell.
Those are not tabs. those are hinges. look for a blue light on the front of the lap top. there are no lathces or locks keeping you from opening the device.
