Question
Is this a grill or a griddle plus waffle maker?
Grills usually have a ridged surface for draining fat from cooked meats and griddles usually have a flat surface for eggs, pancakes, etc. I have been unable to determine which this appliance has. Thanks

The plates are reversable to use as a grill or waffle maker.. Very well made..non stick..

Are the plates flat, or ridged like a grill?
I would like to know about the reverse side of the plates. Can I make pancakes on them, or only grill meat and such?

the plates are flat and you can cook pancakes on them. if you cook meat, the plates have a thin ridge around the perimeter and a "spout" at one corner that should drain any grease away from the griddle.

i haven't tried those items with this product, but I do have a Hamilton Beach indoors grill that I use for those items. It was purchased at Wal Mart also rather inexpensively, and does a grat job. It also has removable grilling grids to make clean up even easier.

What changable plates are included with this item?
Just the grill and the waffle plates, right?

Also, is it possible to grill with the top still open or must the lid be down to grill?

Yes, just the grill and waffle plates. You can remove the plate and wash it.

It is possible to grill with the lid open.
