Question

So does the charging end of the cord or on the tablet break?

So I keep seeing things about the charging port. What exactly breaks if it breaks? Does something inside the tablet break so it becomes unusable or does the cord get messed up so I just can use a new cord? I have plenty of Micro USB cords so I'm not concerned about that, but if the tablet itself would become broken, that's a different story.

Don't use that monster charging cable, the spikes or nubs at the end of the charging bracket is to long, I'm going to take a dremel tool and grind them down and see how it works on a old cellphone I have. I think that is the most problems with the charging port being pushed in and or ripped out.

In our tablet, the charging port broke in 3 days. On the tablet itself, it fell inside in table. So when you go the connect the cord, there is nothing to connect it to. The tablet now has an empty "hole".

answer 3
If you are tough on the unit when the cord is attached, I don't know of any tablet that can take that type treatment. The only reason the Ipad family is tougher is the cord and receptacle are wider at the junction and any shock or stretching is equalized a little better. Micr and mini connections can't stand too much rough treatment.

The port caves in, and it's NOT due to user carelessness. I don't know if the problem has been corrected or not. It might not break until after the end of the short 15-day return period. Mine broke after, but fortunately it was within the extend holiday return period. I returned it and got a Tab 3 instead.

Yes, you can use Skype using the front facing camera on the tablet. I also believe that Skype is one of the preloaded apps on the tablet.

I think skype is preloaded on the tablet. I don't recommend skype anymore, I think they started charging and there are many apps that do the same thing for free including google hangouts and Tango. The front facing camera makes it very convenient for a video phone.

If you just want a sleeve to keep it in, you can get that anywhere. If you want a leather type case that it will be in all the time with a flap that opens, you'll want to find one specifically for the M7. All tablets have the ports on the bottom in different places and since the M7 doesn't have the USB port in the center, it may get covered up by some cases. Also, the M7 has the speakers on the back so some cases have cutouts specifically for that.

None specific for MM7 that I've found.

It has two cams so that's something to consider. And covers with elastic or rubber corner keepers might not work because of the placement of MM7's power button.

The universal covers that work best, as I tried them at Walmart, are the ones with a solid edge on only one side. The edge snugly keeps the tablet from moving but over time that will probably loosen up.

I'm currently using an M-Edge Latitude and I love it but the elastic keeper presses touches the power button. It hasn't been a problem but could be over time.

Question

Has anyone had this tablet working for more than a month?

I've been reading a lot of reviews, and even some of the positive reviews have negative reviews about the charging port, speakers, or something else breaking. Has anyone actually had this tablet without any problems for over a month?

Mine is working well since I installed the manufacturer update, that solved the slouch performance.

Speakers, camera, and various ports work well.

I'm concerned about power connector failure and have been careful in that regard. I hope Monster works extra hard to address everyone's concerns. The walmart.com reviews could have been outstanding but for this one issue. I still believe it's a great tablet, one of my favorites.

Yet another update! Last night (1/18/14) the charging port caved in on my husband's tablet. Before that happened, the tablet had just stopped charging. I had seen the bad reviews complaining about the charging port, but figured others were just mishandling their tablets. Well I know my husband's wasn't mishandled, and I truly now believe there's a manufacturing defect. I also had an M7, and the headphone jack had been acting iffy. Probably a sign of things to come. Otherwise we loved everything else about the tablets.

I thought the return period had already expired, but when I logged into my Walmart account last night I was able to print a return slip. Today I went to Walmart and returned them. Maybe they extended the return period on these because they know there's a problem that might take more than 15 days to happen.

Even though they were covered by Monster's warranty, I decided to return the tablets and get my money back while I could. I didn't want to be putzing around with warranty claims and probably having to ship the tablets to Monster. Currently there's no other tablet we're interested in. We might again consider Monster tablets if we feel confident they corrected the manufacturing defects, and repurchase if we haven't purchased another brand.

I have to answer again. My husband also has one, and tonight his stopped charging properly. Nothing appears loose, but the cord has to be jiggled slightly to get the lightning bolt to appear on the battery icon. It's not the cord, because I tried my cord in his tablet, and the same thing happens. Now I'm wondering when it's going to happen to mine. I use mine more and charge it more often.

I haven't had any problems. Maybe the people who broke their charging ports tried to connect it with the plug upside down, or didn't line it up properly. That's the only way I can see it happening.

Go into your settings and select Apps. Select the weather app that you downloaded and then there should be an option to move it to the SD card. It says that it's the SD card, but it's really the 16 GB in a different storage area.
answered 4 months, 1 week ago

answer 2
The 16gb is an illusion. There is only 1gb to load apps. Almost 700gb is bloatware and can't be moved. Go to Apps and see if your weather app can be moved to the internal SD memory. Do this every time you load an app. They say that someday they will go to 2gb as the primary partition, while all of the rest of Android lets you use the whole memory. Why? Beats me. Good luck.
answered 4 months, 2 weeks ago
By
DoorstopOwner
answer 3
Go into your applications and select the app, see if it gives you the option to move it to SD Card, because even though there may not be a memory card installed, that is what they consider the 16GB of internal storage. It's an "internal SD Card" of sorts. It makes it frustrating to download and/or update apps, but you get used to it I guess.

Oh, and not all apps can be moved to SD Card, so those that can't, you will have to determine if you really want or not, otherwise they muck up the whole system #for lack of a better way to say it#

First, make sure you've done the firmware upgrade. There's 16gb memory but it's partitioned in what I think is an unusual way. It's easy to fill up the 1gb partition where apps get stored by default. Go to Settings->Apps. For each app that you've downloaded, tap "Move to SD card". This will move most of the app to a 12gb partition and give you a lot more memory space to work with.

The tablet is 16gb but you only have 2gb of internal space. You have to buy an SD memory card if you want more space which can hold up to 16gb. I hope that helps
