If I were you, I would pay no attention to the feeding guidelines on dog food bags. When I got my lab at one year he weighed way over a 100 lbs and within a year his hips and back legs began to go out on him. I had to put him on a very strict died. I put him on a 44% protein food and fed him l/2 cup twice a day with a half cup of no salt green beans. He lost a ton of weight and remained in excellent health. So, dogs don't need as much food as we think they do. Well, I mean unless they are Alaskan Sled Dogs or something like that. Now I feed him 1 cup twice a day with a small amount of canned dog food or some of the green beans. He is perfectly healthy.

We would like to correct our previous answer.
There is no Ethoxyquin in Pure Balance dry dog foods. We require natural stabilizers of our ingredients. Products are absent of Ethoxyquin, BHA, BHT or any other artificial preservative.

answer 2
It is not ethytoxquin free. There is a very small amount present that is used to stabilize the product prior to our purchase of the ingredient. We do not add more after we purchase the ingredients

Find the product on the Walmart site. If the information isn't at the small bag site then go to the larger bag. Go down to the question area and see if someone has already asked for the list of ingredients. Then click on that question and answer. I found the list by doing this but don't remember which of the flavors it was. But, I did find the complete list of ingredients and the protein amount which I think was 27% but don't remember for sure.

The calcium level is listed on the bag. I believe it's 1.5% (which is the average recommended from all I've read through the years). In addition to the information right on the bag, you can find plenty of information about nutrient levels in the review on dog advisor (It's given 4 stars which is wonderful for the price of this food!):

I tried googling this question and it really depends on the size of the kibble and the brand. I would suggest putting one even cup of your food in a Ziploc bag and take it to a post office or UPS type store Pony Mailbox etc. And ask them to weigh it. So you will know an exact number for calculating.

I've had dogs all my life. I always just feed small sized kibble in the same high quality I use for my older dogs. I just feed puppies more often.

answer 2
This partially depends on breed, size & maturity of puppy & what they're ready for. At 6-8 weeks, you might want to try the soft food first. If not, the size of this kibble should be OK as the pieces are smaller than a plain M&M. I would mix it with warm water & let it soften just a tad for a very young puppy to start and take it from there. If a person has an 8 week old tea-cup Yorkie, they may want to stick with soft food for awhile. But for many, if not most, pups, the size of this good is not an issue. Based on reviews and the nutrient content on dogadvisor dot com and other sites, it seems to be well balanced for my large breed puppy despite having small pieces. Even better - she LOVES it! She's a picky eater with skin allergies & food sensitivities, so I'm sold at least. Granted she is an American Bulldog-Pitbull mix that weighs 50lbs & is about to turn six months old very soon

Question

Any spoilage problems since there are no preservatives.

I got the 11 lb bag to try this on my Lab and, of course, 11 lbs won't last a long time but I wonder if I can continue to keep this dry food in my garage when summer gets to Texas. Since there are no preservatives, will it spoil?

I live in south Texas near the ocean so the humidity is high. I always keep it inside just because the moisture and heat of the garage might not be the best for it. If you have an indoor closet you can stash it than I would do that instead of keeping it in the garage.

I can't honestly say for dog food in particular since we're the cat people but - I definitely know living in South Florida do NOT keep in garage. Yes the food will spoil - it's the ingredients that keep moisture in the fat in the food that sours. When you hear of those mass call backs on food - some of the reasons are from the spoilage. We got one of those huge pet food storage containers with a tight seal and keep in a corner of the always air conditioned kitchen.
