The three rooms are 8x8 and the area under the awning is 8x8 for a total of 16 x16. So yes it does include the area under the awning. The actual living space is 192 square feet and the awning space is 64 square feet.

16x16 includes the awning. The three rooms are 8x8 plus 8x8 awning.

Hi Dusty,

The dimensions 16'x16' do include the rainfly. That is the overall footprint of the tent. Each of the three rooms is 8'x8', as is the canopy area under the rainfly.

Question

Ground Cover/Footprint?

Will I need to purchase a tarp or something similar to put under the tent? If so, and suggestions?

I always put a tarp under a tent just to help the floor of the tent. I used a 32 x 16 folded in half to make a 16 x 16.

I always put a tarp under my tent no matter how thick the material. Plus it protects the floor of the tent from getting wet in a rain storm. We used 2-8x10 for the rooms and just tucked the extra under the tent so rain doesn't pool on the tarp and get on tent floor. Plus, we didn't want the tarp under the awning for the same reason. We bought some green indoor outdoor carpet 8x8 to fit that area. We also purchased some 2'x2' puzzle mat for the flooring on the inside not only to protect the floor of the tent but to make is easier to place things on it. That made it so much nicer.

No tarp or ground cover is required underneath this tent, however, the use of one will extend the life of the tent.

Hi Beanmomm33,

This tent does not require a ground cloth or tarp underneath it, but having one can help lengthen the life of your tent floor. We suggest using a tarp that is the same size or smaller than the dimensions of your tent. Bigger tarps will catch water, which will pool around your tent and could seep inside. As this tent is an L shape, consider buying two tarps that are about 8' x 8' in size, or cutting one to size. Walmart has a variety of sizes available in stores and online.

Question

Floor layout question

Are each of the three rooms 8x8 with the awning area also being 8x8?

We use a Coleman 4-in-1 air bed that opens up to the width of a king size - want to make sure it will fit in one room with a little space around it.

All three rooms are 8x8. I had a coleman 18in raised queen in two rooms and a Intex 22in raised queen in the third. A king would give you no walking around room.

And yes the awning is also 8x8 as we bought some outdoor carpet for that area.

I didn't measure the but when we put the 2'x2' puzzle mat together for the flooring we used three across and then had to cut one down. Even then there was a little extra room so I would think that it would be 8x8.

Hi Toni,

This tent has two doors. If you look at the product photo, there is a large mesh square on the left side. This is the first door (the polyester privacy layer has been rolled up in the photo), and the mesh zippers open in the middle. The second, D-shaped door is on the right side. Both are outlined in green polyester, and open to the rooms on either end of the tent.

Question

Does the Canopy have a vent?

On the setup video of the red tent, it looks like the canopy has an air vent. Am I seeing right? An air vent would be awesome to keep the canopy from flying up.

It does have a vent it stays down pretty good. The only problem comes if it rains then you'll need a drain bucket because then it acts like a gutter in the middle of the awning.

answer 2
No mine doesn't have a vent on the awning. However, when we stake it we angle the pole with the bottom of the pole toward the door of the tent. So the front of the awning is angled down. It keeps the wind from picking it up and the rain from pooling.

answer 3
Hi Mando,

Yes, you are correct. This tent has a vent near the front corner of the awning. It is also to stop water from pooling on the awning and pulling the tent down with the weight of the water.

Hi Amanda,

This tent comes in both colors. The green trim is available online only, and the red trim will be online and in stores. Only the green is available at this time, but look for the red trim in Spring 2014!

Hi Bst,

The room dividers are completely connected to the rest of the tent, yes. They have D-shaped doors that zipper open, and pockets on either side for gear storage. They are not the optional room dividers that can be removed from the tent. The second photo of the tent (above) will give you a closer look at them.

Question

Roll Up wall??

On the left side of the tent, it looks like a roll up wall. I am unable to find any details as how it rolls down and and attaches to tent. Pictures are too small to tell me if it's velcro on jet those couple spots that look like it or is there a zipper?
Thanks

The left side is a wall that zips or velcros. It zips from bottom to top on the sides. It also has a screen behind it that zips left and right at bottom and bottom to top in the middle. With the wall zipped up and tied it looks like a double screen like a screen on a glass sliding door.

It zips up and down and attaches at the top with ties. It's supposed to be a screened room. But you can also use it for another bedroom too. The three rooms are divided by zippered doors with tie backs.

answer 3
Hi Mike,

The roll up wall is actually the door, which has two layers - mesh and polyester. It's the polyester layer that rolls up, to create a large window for ventilation. This door unzips on the outer edges of the polyester. Manually roll the door up and there are two straps to fasten it in place. The mesh layer stays in place, in order to keep bugs out of the tent.

I'm not sure didn't use one but the inlets are real neat. Would have to be a small 110 volt air conditioning unit. You would also need a small single step stool to sit it on.

Hi Claudia,

Any portable air conditioner that fits in a window will fit in the vent of this tent. The design was not made with any one particular air conditioner model or brand in mind.
