No. You only have to purchase minutes before you run out. I got started by buying 450 minutes (or so) that will last for one year. At that time they offered me 200 more minutes at a reduced rate but those minutes will only last three months (or thereabouts), so after doubling the minutes, ended up with 1300 minutes, 900 of which will be good for a year and the rest for the three months. Just buy more before you run out to keep your account active; that's the only restriction. I have a Tracfone account -- but Tracfone doesn't debit anything at all -- my credit card info is there only so that when I get ready to add minutes I call them and have minutes added instantly. You might prefer instead to buy minutes at a store.
