They do expire eventually but it is not monthly.

Your question responds perfectly to the Virgin phone......that is the reason I selected this Tracfone.phone. Believe me I did a lot of research B4 buying. I had an old Tracfone & was ready for a new one. Prior to this I had a Virgin & they provided wonderful options to buy minutes (i.e., $80 for a full year & could pay quarterly. If you didn't use, you did not lose.) So B4 the last Tracfone purchase, I bought an another Virgin for $20/month.. & no more previous generosity w/their old plan. So I ditched that one. AND Bcuz I did so much research, I know that my selection is the right one for me.
You can purchase 60 min. - 120 min cards etc. I got double minutes when I signed up with a 60 min. card. You will run out of minutes before you use up the expiration date, like I have only 85 minutes left and the expiration say's 8/20/14.
