If you mean "4G LTE," then no, this particular phone featured on this page (the S968C) will not have access to Verizon's LTE network. It will be limited to Verizon 3G (EVDO Rev A).

Straight Talk's other version of the SIII WILL have access to 4G LTE but will use Sprint. The model number is S960L and it will be a true 4G LTE phone but as we all know, Sprint's coverage footprint is much smaller than Verizon's. If you are in a good Sprint coverage area, the S960L will be very fast; much more so than this phone. You can order it here (copy-and-paste):

Do you mean 4G "LTE?" ...if so, no, this particular version of Straight Talk's Samsung Galaxy S3 (the S968C) will not have access to 4G LTE. It will be limited to 3G only using Verizon native coverage.

If you want the same phone that does have access to 4G LTE, you'd have to order the Sprint version (or the S960L), which will be a true 4G LTE phone but will use Sprint which as we all know has a far smaller coverage footprint both generally and for LTE.

However, if you are in an area where you have Sprint LTE, the S960L will be extremely fast. Go here to see the phone in the Pebble Blue color (copy-and-paste):

Yes, currently, white is the only color available for the SIII that uses Verizon. They are out of stock for the Pebble Blue color phone.

However, be careful as the Sprint version of the SIII in White is also currently available.

If you order the phone that is featured on THIS page, it will be the Verizon version.

The way you can tell is that the Verizon version will have the numbers "968" embedded somewhere in the Walmart model number designation (the Samsung model designation is S968C).

The Sprint version will have the numbers "960" embedded somewhere in the Walmart model number designation (as the Sprint version will have the Samsung designation of S960L).

If you look below on this page, you will see a section titled "Specifications" and if you look under that heading, you will see "Model No.:" ...do you see the "968" inside that number?

The answer should be "yes." Therefore, the phone on this page is the Verizon version of the SIII.

If you order the phone on THIS page, it will be the SIII that uses Verizon. It will be limited to 3G data speeds and will NOT have access to Verizon's 4G LTE network.

The model number of the Verizon version of the Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy SIII is SCH S968C so if you see "968" embedded anywhere in the model number, it will be the Verizon version.

The Sprint version has the model number of SCH S960L and will be a true 4G LTE phone. It will have very fast data/internet speeds if in a Sprint LTE coverage area. If you see "960" embedded in the Walmart model number for the Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy SIII, it will be the Sprint version.

ANYONE ORDERING A STRAIGHT TALK SIII, BE SURE TO NOTE THE MODEL NUMBER ON THE PAGE IN WHICH YOU ARE ORDERING THE PHONE TO MAKE SURE YOU WILL GET THE VERSION YOU DESIRE.

Hi Connie,

TraFone has a new program called BYOP(bring your own phone). As long as your phone is a CDMA(Verizon) and nothing else. But never hurts to call up Straight Talk which is a subsidiary to TracFone to find out.

Sorry we were of no help, Connie. The best advice if you want to use the phone you have and don't want to buy a new Straight Talk phone is to check the BYOP site that I mentioned in my first post to see if it is compatible to use at Straight Talk ...or call Straight Talk directly and ask them.

We can't do too much more here on this forum as your question does not give enough information to answer with certainty.

CONNIE, some phones can be brought to Straight Talk with no problems. However, it will be difficult for us to give you a definite yes or no answer here as we don't know enough information about your phone.

What I suggest is you go to the Straight Talk BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) webpage and go through the process ...they will ask you some questions about the phone and ask for some identifying numbers, ZIP code where the phone will be used, etc.

Once completing the process, if your phone is compatible, they will give you instructions on how to activate and pay for service should you choose to use Straight Talk service. You will not be under any obligation to sign up just because you use the compatibility check.

If you have problems with the website or you just don't want to fool with it, you can always call a Straight Talk representative and ask them to tell you if your phone is compatible as they will ask you the same questions and give you the answer while you are on the phone with them.

Here is the BYOP webpage (copy-and-paste):

Smuckatelli, BOTH the Verizon version and the Sprint version will have a "C" at the end. The "C" signifies CDMA. Both Verizon and Sprint are CDMA.

I think the best way to make sure that the SIII you order is the Verizon version is to look for the "968" somewhere within the model number.

Walmart designates the phone featured on THIS page as "STSAS968CWTPWP" ...note the "968" embedded within that model number?

Mandy, the phone featured on THIS page will run off Verizon towers. It is the S968C. If you want a a Straight Talk SIII that uses Verizon, be sure to order from THIS page and confirm that the digits "968" appear somewhere within the model number.

This phone will use Verizon voice and 3G networks; native coverage only. There is no access to Verizon's 4G LTE network.

Straight Talk offers another version of the SIII that uses Sprint which is a 4G LTE phone. Don't get them mixed up as many have done if you desire the Verizon version.

This particular phone with the model number S968C will be 3G only on the Verizon native network.

If still available, Straight Talk is selling another version of the SIII, which is 4G LTE but will use the Sprint native network. The model number for that version is S960L.

They both have essentially the same features and are offered at the same price but one is 3G only on Verizon and the other is 4G LTE capable but on Sprint.

Hi Kat with a C,

A locked phone simply means that your phone is exclusive to that carrier and only to that carrier. An UNlocked phone means, you can use this phone on almost all of the networks such as AT&T, Sprint Verizon, Metro PCS and so forth, but will require registration and a network code that you can purchase from them.

unlocked phone is what you need. If you want to switch over with your existing phone then you would need to have your phone unlocked unless it's already done. Locked phones means it's still locked into the service it is right now. I'm not sure about CDMA phones but that's what you have to do with phones that need sim cards.

answer 4
A locked phone is one that is "locked" to a particular provider or carrier. It normally is intended to be used with one provider only and can't be "easily" switched from provider to provider without "unlocking." The phones Straight Talk sells (both GSM and CDMA) can be considered "locked" to Straight Talk service and you agree to use it on the network carrier that is predetermined by Straight Talk.

The particular phone on THIS page, the Samsung Galaxy SIII S968C, is a CDMA phone that uses Verizon "native" network and and can be considered "locked" to Straight Talk service. By purchasing this phone, you agree to use it as configured.

An unlocked new phone pertaining to Straight Talk service is generally a GSM phone that can accept a SIM card. Using it at Straight Talk would require it to be used with either the AT&T network or the T-Mobile network. Walmart carries an extensive offering of unlocked GSM phones that can be used at Straight Talk. Once purchasing the new unlocked GSM phone, you then will have to purchase a SIM card from Straight Talk (or another provider if not using Straight Talk) for it to function as intended.

This particular version of the SIII on Straight Talk uses Verizon -owned towers only (native coverage only, no roaming) and only with voice and EVDO 3G. It will not have access to Verizon's 4G LTE network.

However, other SIII versions on Straight Talk are on Sprint and AT&T and some unlocked GSM SIII phones can be using either AT&T or T-Mobile towers. It will all depend on what version you are using. But again, THIS phone, the S968C (the one featured on this page) will use Verizon.
