Yes and no. It is Straight Talk this particular model use the AT&T towers. Straight Talks can use AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile:
Check the boxes (bottom left corner) they tell you which network you will be on:
GSM-A > AT&T
CDMA-V > Verizon
CDMA-S > Sprint
The phone models have a hint in them too, like Samsung Galaxy Discover S730G < the “G” meaning GSM. If buying online don't expect the Straight Talk help line to explain which phone is which carrier, my experience they are clueless. Just do a little googling on user forums. Bottom line you can order online if it is not on your preferred carrier Walmart is fantastic about returns. Opened or not you can return within 15 days.

The activation card is to activated the phone itself. To use it (talk text moblie) you have to buy a service card.

The activation card included with the phone is simply contains the serial number you will need to activate the phone and instructions on programming your new phone. You will still need to purchase a $45 or $60 green service pin card. I hope this helps. :)

What is referred to as an "activation card" is an informational card that gives the instructions on how to activate the phone along with all the identifying numbers which correspond to the phone that are needed for activation.

You may be referring to a "service card" or Straight Talk "plan" that is what provides the actual service. That you have to pay for separately and is NOT included with the phone. You are required to purchase at or before activation, a $45 unlimited plan (or $60 International plan) or multiples.

(ST refurbished phones sold by Walmart do come with a free 30-day service plan, however. Brand new phones like this one do not.)

Unfortunately, it uses the UMTS:3 frequency which is AT&T. I bought this needing Verizon coverage and am having to send it back. The Samsung Proclaim is a CDMA phone, which means Verizon coverage. It costs the same here on walmart.com. I just ordered mine! Hope you find one that works for you!

Question

Why does the battery charge not last 8 hours? This is second phone in a month.

I exchanged my first Galaxy for another after two weeks because the charge would not last 8 hours. Now this one is doing the same thing. I have all apps and everything turned off and even have the phone turned of-not on standby and the battery still drains within 8 hours.

As far as I've been told it's a common flaw in the phone. I had to send mine off for a replacement too. Basically they told me I lost the money I spent on it because there's nothing they can do except send me another one.

I just took mine into the store and they told me to buy another phone because they tried a few tricks but they don't work. It's especially frustrating to me because all of their ads say to bring your devices and they will all work on Straight Talk but Straight Talk devices don't work on Straight Talk. There are so many issues with these phones its impossible to know what will work and what won't.

I've tried reading some forums and not had any luck getting mine to work.
