Why isn't the actual size on the main page...?
I got the 39" on March 1st because of price and size. Although rated a 39" TV the width dimension is actually less than 36" which lets it fit into my entertainment cabinet which is ony 36" wide. I had to use a 32" max. size before I found the Sanyo 39"

on Sanyo DP39E23 39" 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV
The dimensions of a TV are always measured diagonally, that is what the 39" is.

Hi. Televisions are measured by their diagonals. This is to standardize measurements in the retail industry. Often the length and the width are given under the specifications tab.
