Yes, tadpoles feed on dead plants etc. It is the chlorophyll they need from growing algae to survive. Buy these! Also supplement with fresh wilted GREENS (mildly steamed just so it's not crisp yet doesn't fall apart). Kale, Spinach, Cabbage, Celery - they will pick at it & you will find what they prefer. Don't forget that they turn into Frogs in about 30-40 days depending the age when you got them though. They will sprout back legs First. Their tail is kind of like a lung, & decentigrates when they reach adult stage. (do a google search on diff types of tads/frogs. Always keep a rock or brick or such that sits about 1/2 out of the water, ESPECIALLY ONCE THEY START getting front legs. If you use a piece of floating wood be sure it is 'natural with no chemicals & change their water every couple of days or so - for stagnant water is not healthy for them. AND ALWAYS keep a (Tight Screen Lid) once you see legs or you could end up having a room full of hopping frogs, or worse, dead frogs! You can also get an aquarium air pump with a tube & air stone to reach the bottom of the water to give them plenty of water & air circulation. They prefer Fresh aerated water at all times! :0) Just have fun, & do a little research, or call your local zoo, college zoology dep, or exotic pet store, they can tell you more. We raised them as kids, 40 years ago, from the crawdad, minnow & frog creek that ran behind our house in Tulsa, lol. But we did good. ;0)
Wouldn't make it their only food but it certainly won't hurt them. Have a couple tanks and although I bought it for my algae eater it must be really good tasting because all my fish jump on it as soon as its in the tank. They've been doing it for well over a month and they're happy and healthy
i actually went out to the pond behind my house and snatched up algie for my little guys but yea, this should work!
