Not very loud at all. The mattress inflates in about 5 minutes and any noise for 5 minutes, in my book, is tolerable. It's very easy to inflate and deflate as well as adjust. I inflated to maximum to try it, but it was a bit to hard for me, so I left out about 4 to 5 seconds worth of air and it was just right. This bed folds up very nicely and fits very well back into the carrying bag with the pump. The pump is not loud by any means. You certainly do not need ear plugs or anything like that. It's electric and works so quickly that it's inflated in no time. Buy the bed, it's a good one.

The pump for the coleman air mattress was seperate from the mattress, just use it to air the bed up and then put the pump away. No need to keep it attached at all.

no the pump does not have to stay plugged in while the bed is in use. The pump only gets plugged in for the inflation and deflation process, other than that you can leave the pump in the closet.

It is a thin layer of "flocking" and I recommend some kind of padding in addition

I don't think it's velour, but I don't know for sure. What is on top of the bed if very soft and non slippery. You're sheets will not slip off. It feels good to the body.

back in the day the description would've read "flocked".... it's fuzzy but not annoyingly spikey feeling - however the top is not real seuded LEATHER.

It is my opinion and experience that king size bottom sheets work much better as they fit over the sides and tucked under the bed corners making it a nice fit with the sheets staying in place. I also use a king size mattress cover under the sheets which doubles the comfort for a perfect nights sleep.

We used king size sheets to fit around the taller mattress and they worked pretty good. Too much tossing and turning still pulled up the edges, but they survived the night.

Yes the pump has a part that you place the nozzle onto if you would like to deflate it. This is labled on the top of the device.

No it's not a reverse pump. To remove the air, just take the cap off and then you can fold it in half, then a fourth, etc to get the air out.

A fitted sheet should stay on it, but there is no space to tuck in a flat sheet. What you see in the picture, is pretty much what it is. We used a double sleeping bag and it stayed on the bed just fine.

The bed is as high as a regular bed sitting on a bed frame. Very easy to climb on and off the bed. If you use a box spring you will need a foot stool in order to climb into and off the bed.

If you used a box spring that would raise the bed up the height of your box spring plus the almost 18" of the air mattress. You may need a ladder to climb on. But I believe you could use this bed a a regular
bed because you can adjust the firmness so easily. I put mine on total firmness, then had to let 4 to 5 seconds of air out to adjust it to exactly where I wanted it. It's so easy so set up, adjust and tear down and fold up and put back into it's bag with the electric air pump. I would just say buy the bed it will always come in handy.
