What you are looking for is an electric PRESSURE COOKER. Pressure cookers have a steam relief valve. If your crock pot had a tight fitting lid it would burst from the steam pressure. That would be extremely dangerous.

no this one does not...it is just a slow cooker but they make the same one with a meat thermometer with it and it does change to a "warm mode" after cooking your programmed amount of time---model 33966---walmart does carry it in some stores and maybe online all the time!
