The poles are one piece. They are about 70 inches in height. You can adjust the shelves where you want them. You don't have to use all the shelves if you want more space for each shelf.

The verticle poles come in 2 sections. You could create a 2 shelf section and and 3 shelf section technically. The shelves can be adjusted up and down in increments of 1 inch. The shelves are not stacking or fixed height. The shelves have round openings in each corner that slide up and down. You use platic wedges that clip onto the verticle pole to hold the shelves at the height you want.

It is basically one full length unit but could be assembled as two half tall units if you didn't need leveling on one unit. The shelves are adjustible in 1" increments but once set into place are hard to reset. Two pound mallet useful.

The corners of shelves slide easily over the four poles. The easy, sturdy holding clamps aound pole under the shelf hold the shelves in place. You can place as many or as few of the shelves you want on the poles. Everything is adjustable to your needs. You don't even have to set it up to full height. YOu can make the whole unit shorter if you wish.

It does need to be assembled to full height but the shelves themselves can be moved up and down which gives you shelving that is perfect for your needs. if you are worried about the height i know the 4 tier shelf by the same company is shorter but the same overall product. I'm happy with the purchase. :)

I would think that would be for a combined weight, even though each layer stand on their own support.
I don't know if I want to put more than a couple of hundred pounds on each layer, though.

While this may be unclear in the specs, I doubt very much that each shelf can support 350lb. This weight given is likely for a well distributed load over the whole 5 shelves! Even then I would put very heavy items on the lowest shelf.

You could do that but I am not sure how sturdy the shelf would be without the bottom shelf supporting the rest. Other products may better suit your needs especially those made of wood. You might be able to put the small dorm refrigerator on the bottom shelf or even the upper shelves and store food below. This product is very sturdy. You don't have to use all the shelves. I have a large TV on mine. No problems.

Shelves can be adjusted in 1 inch increments. Yes, you could put the lowest shelf 3ft off the ground if you wanted to fit a fridge underneath. I would be worried about stability doing that. I would recommend putting the bottom shelf on the ground to hold the legs correctly, put the fridge on that shelf, then put the second shelf over the fridge. You could use a board to compensate the part of the fridge that wouldnt sit on the shelf. There are no requirements for shelf placement for top, bottom, or middle. You can use as many or as few shelves as you want.

Yes all the shelves can be moved. I have all of the shelves closer that the picture from the store so that it fits my dog's food underneath. i think this would be perfect for a dorm because it has good height and in a dorm you need to expand vertically because is it short on room. it would hold a mini fridge your microwave, books, and a stereo no problem with room to spare! Buy it!

No. The most I have been able to have these shelves slant (on accident) was about an inch. There is not enough play with how the shelves mount to do this (which is a good thing for everyone that wants level shelving).

No, they cannot be slanted forward. The four corners of each shelf have a metal collar that slides over the metal corner upright post. A plastic wedge sleeve sits inside the collar and around the metal post. Thus all four collars must be on the same level. Great shelves though. Maybe you could put something under the box of fruit to prop up the back.

You can use all the shelves or just some of them. You choose where you want to put the shelves. You can make them 18 or more inches apart. My upper shelf (not the very top) is just over 18 inches. The other shelves are about 12 inches apart. I have five shelves including the top. You could have three shelves 18 inches between each shelf and use the top shelf as well (four total).

Problem with sleeves

Are the two piece sleeves that are to click together around the pole to support the shelf supposed to snap together ? Seems the pole is to big and the sleeves don't meet. Therefore when I put shelves on, they don't hold and the shelves slide down

Not completely. Though some of the pieces fit better than others, we did have a little bit of a problem with this as well the first shelf or two, but after that it was pretty smooth sailing. Try swapping out pieces, like mixing and matching. Also make sure both pieces are the right side up, the top is tighter for easier shelf placement.
answered 5 months, 2 weeks ago

Keelin1996
answer 2
When you put the snaps around the poles make sure they are upward by looking at the writing on the snaps both pieces should be up and placed in the grove of the poles, so when you place each shelf on the poles they should fit over the snaps to lock the shelf in place. You have to make sure you count the groves in each pole when you place the snaps in place to level off the shelf.

answer 3
The clips are label "top". This top should be at the top as you will see the clips are tapered, the shelf will slide onto the clip and stop at the widest part which secures it in place. The clips due fit together but to the eye they don't appear to snap tightly edge to edge, they are secure if they are joined correctly again top to top.

By

answer 4
No, they compress when you slip the shelf over them. The clips must be seated in the grooves on the post. Install the sleeves, squeeze then as tightly as you can and adjust them until they snap into one of the grooves on the posts; then slide the shelf over the sleeves. Do all 4 sleeves before installing the shelf. After installation, just make sure you lightly tap the shelves into a stable position.
answered 1 year, 3 months ago
By
RGHCO
answer 5
No, they don't meet completely. With one hand I held the sleeves together from under the shelf and then gently brought that corner of the shelf down over the sleeves. I did that with every corner of the self and, when the 4 corners were positioned over the sleeves (but not all the way yet) I gently tapped the top edge of the shelf on each side of the pole with a rubber mallet. I suppose you could wrap a heavy towel around a hammer if you don't have a mallet.
I think it helps if you can have a helper.

answer 6
The poles have ring shaped indentations every inch. the sleeves have a raised part about 1/2 way up (inside). You have to match the dents on the pole to the ridges on the sleeves as you clip the sleeve around the pole. Make sure that the sleeves are all in the same direction (they taper so that the shelves wedge fit & lock over them) and the same distance from the bottom. Then continue assembling sleeves, shelf, sleeves until the unit is how you want it and THEN force the shelves down on the sleeves to lock them into place.

If you've put the shelf on correctly, it should be flat. If you slide the shelves upside down over the poles, there would be a large lip, but I don't think you can keep them upside down because the shelf holes don't fit properly over the pole sleeves if you do. That's how we discovered we were putting the first one on upside down. The shelf wasn't fitting tightly over the plastic sleeve. Flip the shelf over so the flat side is up and it works fine.

Yes. It is a natural thought to contemplate installing the shelves with the lip up, but they will not fit over the plastic positioners if this is attempted. There is definitely a right side up and unless you have really good metal fabrication skills, you will need to assemble the unit with the shelves in the proper orientation.

I don't think they can be installed upside down, which is the only way to have the lip. Maybe they can, but we inadvertently put the first one on upside down and it wouldn't fit snugly down over the pole sleeve. That's how we discovered which side was supposed to be up. So I don't know if that would matter or not in the end, maybe having heavy items on them might weigh them down enough to make it work. But it seems like the shelves would be a bit unstable and wobbly if they were left upside down.

Since shelves slides down and wedges over the stop to lock in place, I don't see why shelves couldn't be installed upside down. However, keep in mind, the "underside" of the shelf has 4 front to back supports. Installing them upside down will now be on top of the surface and you will no longer have a "flat" surface.
