I tried this vac tonight specifically to see if it would throw the little hard things that m Oreck spits back on the hardwood floors. It picks it up. No kicking it back. This vac is awesome on carpets. If you have cats like we do, the pet hair embedded in our carpets was unbelievable. I thought my rugs were spotless, as I use an Oreck on them at least once a week. They were gross. This sucks up stuff you never knew was there. I now have enough pet hair collected to knit a sweater .

You have to make sure you clean the filter in the bottom of the dirt cup. I missed this one at 1st and wondered why it wouldn't pickup. That's all the prob was. Over a year and works great

I do not this vacuum for the main reason that I have to clean the filter while vacuuming because it's suction is so good. Cleaning the filter is nasty and is a bad design. I have owned another Bissell vacuum and the filter is placed better and not so messy. I vacuum often too. I am very disappointed in this model because my hands get dirty cleaning the filter in between vacuuming my house! For heaven's sake there must be a better way.

I love this vac. I run a home daycare. My vacuums get abused from constant use. This one is great! It sucks up dirt and pet hair like crazy. You do have to clean the washable filter often if you are a frequent user. Even that is great, because it pops right off and can be rinsed in the sink! (just let it air dry over night). I previously owned the lesser model (which I loved!) Bissell powerforce, and gave it away as a gift. I decided to upgrade to this one and was very impressed! I had previously vacuumed with the other one, and couldn't wait to use this one. I couldn't believe what it got up from the carpet!!

Great at first then a year later wish I spent more money and bought a HighEnd vacuum. I have 3 cats and 2 dogs so all my vacuums get a run for there money not to forget my 3 year old son who makes cleaning tough. After a year of somewhat daily cleaning the suction is being lost had unit checked and it's just fine but motor is getting weak and not worth fixing unit clogs often and can't use hose attachment anymore(not enough suction).

Yes, very frequently. Not only does it rip the belt frequently, it also destroys the spin brush.

I would highly recommend this product. For the price you can't beat the quality, suction, pickup or edge cleaning. Not to say that vacumns aren't sometimes defective. But you take a chance on any appliance you buy. I depend on reviews. If the good outweigh the bad then I try the product. I hope this helps you.

Question
Anyone else get a very bad odor after washing out the filters?
I recently rinsed the filters with water and left them to dry for over a day. When I returned it to the vacuum and used it, the black one smelled AWFUL and the smell spread all over the house. Is this happening to anyone else? I don't know if it's mold or not but the smell is keeping me from vacuuming with a vacuum I previously loved!!

Unless it specificially states not to use a mild cleaning agent while washing the filters, you may wash the filters in cold or warm water using a scented mild detergent, and make sure to remove any excess water in the filters since this is what normally creates the horrible smelling odor after it has been washed and dried. The information is in this model's manual, and I would recommend that you just wash the filters again following this method. In addition, you could have also put the inner pleated filter back into the filter container when it was not truly dry causing the odor. I would give the inner pleated filter a complete forty eight hours to dry thoroughly.

That has not happened with mine , but it does sound like mold. I would try soaking it in water with a little bleach; see if that helps. If I'm in a hurry I sometimes dry the filters with my hair dryer. If that doesn't work I would see if you can get a replacement part from the manufacturer.

I use it to clean my hard floors but only after I have already swept and then I just use the hose to suck everything up. I have learned the other way it just moves the dirt.

Do you find this heavy to push?

It is a bit heavy to push. We just traded in our old vacuum, Eureka, which was self-propelled and so easy to use. This vacuum is much more effective but it's also harder to push and a little louder than our old one. If you have problems with your back you may want to look for a smaller model.

It's awesone on hardwood. My hardwood is older. It is tongue and groove and has grooves that are large enough to collect all sorts of junk. This vac actually gets the junk out of the grooves. My expensive vacuum does not do this.
