I do not own one of these products but in the posted reviews they refer to wiring it to their tail light wiring harness, so this product receives power via the vechile and not a battery. I hope this helps. B

No it does not. Your back up lights should give you enough light for you to have limited visibility,

The camera is wired to the back up lights and the monitor is on a fused power when engine running out put.

For use with 12V DC electrical systems. Looks like you need to purchase a power inverter to power the monitor, so when the vechile is off the monitor doesn't draw power and the camera is wired into tail light/back up light system.
