I recommend that you send it in to a Polar watch service center. They not only change the batteries but they clean the units (watch, chest strap) and test them to make sure they are still syncronized. Yes is does cost some but the most I paid was $59 that also included a new chest strap. The batteries were replaced and the chest strap was not picking up the heart rate so they replaced it and now it works perfectly!! If I had done it on my own, then I wouldn't have figured out the chest strap issue. Good Luck
