We've had this vacuum for approx 8 mos. and have nothing but problems with it. By far the worst one I've ever had. Now, it doesn't even work at all and good luck getting Hoover to help you out.

We have this vacuum and it did work wonderfully at first ... and then ...it stopped ... yesterday I took it apart .. cleaned it out .. completely .. I mean really ... washed all parts. Put it back together ... which was a little tricky but doable .. and it works like new ... The trick is to keep it clean .. empty the canister frequently, like every 10 minutes until you run it and the canister isn't filling as quickly. Wow .. can't believe how it picks up .. it is a great vacuum just a pain to use ...

I absolutely hate it now. It started out working fantastic, but performance has deteriorated badly. I keep the filters washed, yet odor issues become very noticeable as well. It is still in use, but I bought a $40 bag type Dirt Devil that significantly outperforms this now.

Yes, we have had this machine for 2 years and really do love it. As a matter of fact we just came to the walmart site to see if they had another in stock so that we could have one in our home and another in our vacation condo. Very good machine.

This unit is pleasingly quiet for a vacuum cleaner. In particular, it does not have the high pitched whine that many budget models are known for.

It is a lot quieter than most vacuums. You can definately still hear it, but it is pretty quiet for a vacuum.

Does this unit come with an option to turn off the brushes (beater bar) or not??? Is is easy to use or self propelled if you turn off this feature???
I have a heavy pile carpet and can not use a vacuum with a beater bar.. not many of those are made but I know that there are some units that you can turn this feature off and it is still easy to push, its still self propelled.

You cannot turn off the beater bar (And it is not self-propelled).

No it dosnt you have to lift the vacuum up or else it will start to move.

Not a HEPA filter. There are three filters to clean - one of which is a washable filter foam. For the other two I use compressed air to clean the fine dust that these catch.

In general "The more powerful the motor, the cleaner the floors". Most of these units have induction motors that limit just how energy efficient they are - a synchronous a/c motor would be more efficient but would add a greater cost to the unit. Given that it is used by most folks occasionally throughout the week, the energy savings would be minimal at best... power is what you need to keep your carpets and floors clean. Regular maintenance of the filters would save energy in itself.

This unit pulls between 10 and 12 amps - depending upon how clean the filters are and how full the dust cannister is.
