Questions & Answers for Schwinn 26" Men's Schwinn Point Beach Cruiser Bike

Question

I way 315lbs and I want to know if this bike will handle me and what the weight limit is on the rack?

I way somewhere around 315 pounds and it says aluminum frame which worries me but the other Schwinn bicycles of this style frame all say steel construction can someone verify the frame material and tell me what the weight limit of the bicycle is. And as well i would like to know the weight limit on the rack. Like lets say I only weighed 150 how much would the rack itself support. And what is the rack made of.

The frame is aluminum. A bout with thyroid cancer took my weight from 185 pounds to 430. The bike has helped me to work off more than a hundred pounds so far... but it has held up under my weight and frequently 50 lbs. or more of groceries in addition. I don't know the weight limit on the rack. The rack itself is strong and rock-solid, but it's supported by thin metal struts that bend fairly easily. I think I've put 40-50 lbs of groceries in saddlebags hung from the rack, but I don't know the exact weight.

I weigh 200 lbs and I turned the bike into an electric bike wich added 50 lbs more and it does fine for me. The luggage rack is where I put the controller and the 4 batteries for a total weight of 38lbs on the rack so far so good. I hope this helps. Schwinn also make a beach cruiser similar to this one but it has a steel frame. But I think the aluminum frame is preety good. where weight would be an issue is in the very light wheels and spokes..

I have a 21 speed bike I use at my Illinois home due to steep hills, but here at my Florida home the 7 speeds are more than needed for the small hills and bridge over passes.

Not sure what the book says, but I'm 6'1" 240lbs. and it works fine for me.
You can tell there is some stress on the frame and pedals when going up hill or against the wind, but I have put 60 miles on it so far with no problems. I'm sure that this is probably about the limit for weight, check with Schwinn to be sure.

Question

Son is short... 28 or 20 inseam will this work?

My son has a 28 or 30' inseam. He's a tad short. Will this frame work for him? I'm 6'5", with seat and handlebars raised, will it work for me? I don't see quick release seat post clamps, can I get these?

30" inseam should be fine, go to the store and have him straddle one, they are in stock now 4-13-09. (here).
I'd get different handlebars right away if your 6'5". Your knees will run into the stock bars, I'm going with 12" rise (7/8")

The seat post clamp I.D. is 1.25" or 31.8 mm, they looked fairly easy to find on net.
