Do the legs lock when set up?
Our old cot's legs will not stay in the unfolded position when set up for sleeping. Because of this it collapses at which ever end's legs fold up.

No, they don't lock, but stay put with nightly use. I wouldn't call it locked, but towards the end of opening, it's a little "tight" move to "lock" it. No problem.

Support bars question
I can't tell from the pictures - there seem to be bars at the foot and head and then 2 bars that support the middle. Is this true? I don't want to sleep on it if I'm going to feel bars in my back.

There are 4 support bars. You shouldnt be able to feel them while you are laying on it as long as you follow the weight suggestions.

legs fold in and sections fold onto each other, not like the army cots...
