The official weight limit is 300 pounds, but that means the crush weight (where the frame breaks) is closer to 500 pounds. High quality bikes have a crush weight of up to 800 pounds. So if you (like me) weigh a bit over 300 and want to carry 50 pounds of add-ons and groceries on this trike, don't be afraid to do it.

Better to do it at home. It will ensure the product was not used before.

Yes. When they send you the pick up slip, you sign for it, and then they automatically take it to the assembler.. not just some kid that works there part time. He's the guy that puts the bikes they sell in the store together, and also the furniture, etc, so he knows what he's doing. It's all free, and I picked the trike up the next day. I have a minivan, and it went into the back.

Schwinn doesn't give it a weight capacity because of the variable riding conditions and styles people may use. If you ride on solid ground and don't jump curbs, it should be ok in the 300 lb. range.

NO. The tryke is not stable enough when turning to handle that weight. Up to 200lbs MAX is what I think...

I am 325 and it is fine . The only problem you may have is the tires holding up. They kind of go down some with my weight. Maybe you can buy bigger tires. good luck.

Question

If I purchase the Schwinn Meridian Adult Tricycle, can I have Walmart assemble it? How do I get this done?

I asked my local Walmart store if they could assemble the bike BEFORE I purchased it. Not only did they say "yes" but there was NO CHARGE for doing it (I'd ask about a charge, FIRST, however!). Just be sure that you have some way to transport it home after it's been assembled! It's a sturdy bike, and won't tip, but it's pretty large, even for our Dodge Caravan!

Question

Balance issues

I don't have the ability to walk very well because of a lack of total balance. If I sat on this adult tricycle would it hold me up without the trike falling over ? And is it possible to even ride it. There is no way I could balance on a regular bike.

Yes the bike would hold you. The man that works at local Wal-Mart where I had mine sent to told me you can use it even for exercise bike by just pedalling backwards it remain stationary and you can exercise. You have to watch going around tight turns as it does tip.

This tricycle would be perfect for u. I also have balance issues and cannot balance on a bicycle. The tricycle does not fall over at all. I own it and I love it. The only thing u would have to watch is turning left or right. U would have to turn a little bit more wide than u would on a regular bicycle because u have 2 wheels in the back not 1. I hope this helps u.

Schwinn states the weight limit at 250Lbs. A very conservative 250 indeed. (Thanks Lawyers...)
But I weigh over 300 and have no trouble at all with my trike, even with heavy stuff in the rear basket.
It's quite sturdy. Fear not.

Yes, easily. I looked all over the internet for a weight rating and Schwinn does not do that. However, there were many articles of people 300+ riding it with additional tools or supplies in the basket. It is a very smooth ride, but built like a work bike.
