Questions & Answers for Microsoft Microsoft Hard Drive 120 GB (Xbox 360)

Question

I am considering purchasing a Xbox 360 for my husband for Christmas. Why do I need a hardrive?

Does the Xbox 360 come complete with a hardrive and controller? Is there anything else that is recommended for normal play?

It depends on what type of gamer your husband is. If he like online gaming, then you might want to buy the wireless internet adapter. You'll also need to subscribe to Xbox Live, which is about $50/year, although if you look around you can find gift subscriptions for much less.
As for the "complete" Xbox 360, no, not every version comes with an HDD. The entry level 360 Arcade has no HDD. The Pro/Premium has a 60 GB HDD, which is a good size for a casual gamer. It's what I have at home. Then, there's the Elite, which is the most expensive, but has the most features, including a 120 GB HDD. Hope I didn't bore you to death with an extra long answer!

I would strongly recommend that you buy this product for your husband if you do get him a 360 for Christmas.
Ideally if you can swing it buy him a 360 bundle pack that already comes with a hard drive. If you can't get your hands on one of those buy the core package and then an extra hard drive.
You will want the hard drive if he is planning on playing games online (Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Fable 2 for example), also if he is wanting to download things like pictures, movies, games, demos, ect from the Xbox market place.
The 360 will come with a controller and as I mentioned earlier depending on what package you get a hard drive. That is all he will need for normal play aside from a game.
If you guys have a high speed internet connection I would recommend getting him a Microsoft Points card as well so he can download Arcade games and things like that. They are inexpensive and make great stocking stuffers.
Hope this helps you out!^^

The previous answer is correct, but I would only use it once or twice. Some people have had there Live accounts deleted because of misuse of the migration kit. So, be careful.

Microsoft has a form that you can fill out and mail in to get a FREE one. Do a search for "migration kit".

Probably not or at least, not that I've read anywhere... but the new dashboard update (coming out around 11/19) will allow you to install games to your hard drive which should equate to slightly faster load times which is the main reason I'm looking at this upgrade myself.

Question

WHICH ONE IS BETTER IF YOU DON'T PLAY ONLINE GAMES....????.

I read the other reviews stating that if you play online games that it is better to get the installed memory or an extra hard drive....If you are only using it for the graphics and games bought at the store only---Can you just buy the Xbox 360 Arcade one that only has 256mb???or is that a bad idea????????

your going to run out of space on the hard drive really quickly, just spring for the larger drive and the ability to do more music from your own collection while you game. LIVE is amazing.

Even if you're not playing the games online, if you want to download any add-ons to the games, you'll need a hard drive. This could be anything from an expansion pack, to bug fixes, to new maps.

If your 360 is laying horizontal...then on the Left hand side of the console there is a small little button Closest to the front of the console that button holds the plastic peice filling the void where the HDD should be..
If you press it that peice will Eject and Shazzam!!!Now Place You New HDD in its Place..Power on and follow Onscreen instuctions...Hope this Helps Because this is Exactly what i did...
Good Luck And Enjoy.....
