The easy-to-use, compact SmartHeart Heart Rate Monitor helps you maximize your workout. It's a lightweight and comfortable watch that measures basic heart rate and calories burned. It includes a chest strap to continuously transmit your heart rate to the accompanying wristwatch. The chest belt transmitter is worn comfortably against the skin; it picks up heart signals and sends them wirelessly to the watch. Oh! this belt is pretty big ....I am a big girl and I measure 44 1/2 inches and it still can streach more...way more.....it would also fit Babie !

Are both the strap and the watch water resistante to at leaset 30 ft and will they give an accurate reading while swimming?

No, the monitor does not work while swimming. In fact they recommend you do NOT swim with it on, as their literature state it is not "water-proof", only "water-resistant", which they define as able to survive water splashing on it, but not being submerged for any length of time. I'm not sure if they think it wise to even wear in the shower or not - should be ok as long as you don't hold it under a direct flow for more than a second or two ... or three!

Yeh, I know it seems pretty lame that when something says "water-resistant" to XX meters, you'd think you can dive into the water, but in fact they tell you not to ... go figure!

Anyway, it's a great featured & accurate HRM for the price, but not one for your triathalon swimming leg, only the cycling & run portion.

My HR watch was stolen at the gym but I still have my chest strap.Can I just buy another watch or do I have to buy the whole setup again?
