Yes... But not with a normal quick use.
In the directions it gives you instructions on how to sterilize an area (I do this around the toilets & garbage pails) You have to steam that area holding the mop still for several seconds (I believe it's up to 6) but... this only sterilizes an area the size of the mop head. I would not do this to the entire floor, or it would take forever to clean...
I am a very picky cleaner... I have a husband that's a mechanic for garbage trucks... a young child... several pets... our floors get very dirty very quickly (and need daily cleaning) Since we all love to walk around barefoot!
I love how well this cleans... and how simple it is to use it! You can feel a difference on the floor after the first use... My only regret with this steamer is that I didn't get it sooner!!

It sanitizes and cleans at the same time. The floors look and feel amazing after I finish steaming the floors. I will never go back to the old mop and solution way.

It can sanitize if you leave the steam on the area for longer than 15 seconds. Otherwise it is just a very great cleaning tool.

It sanitizes and cleans using the steam. However, if your floor is very dirty, you may have to use two mop pads as I sometimes do.

I had to return my original one after my first use for just this problem. Even though the tanks cap was put on properly, it was dripping cold water on my foot & floor when I went to use it. I returned that steam mop & the replacement mop works perfectly & I love it!

Mine did that too. You have to be sure the water little water tank is positioned correctly on the filter and all the way down. This should resolve the problem.

Possibly you do not have it push down correctly or tight enough. Or, just maybe it's a defect.
Mine does not leak and that is not acceptable. If you cannot fix it--I'd send it back for a new one.

No, you don't have to pump it. There is a trigger you hold. While you hold it, it releases the steam (or in my case, water).

no you just squeeze the trigger.

You squeeze the trigger to release the steam, the pad will become moist and warm from the steam, I press the trigger over the messiest part and with one or two passes it is removed, ie. dried yogurt and ice cream from my daughter, plus it uses steam so the floors dry faster, I hope this helps.

Question

Will this work to clean walls

Wondering if this would work to clean painted walls that have smoke residue from people smoking and ready the walls for painting? Or is there a stream mop I could buy that will accomplish cleaning my floors (no wax linoleum and vinyl in bathroom) as well as clean my self cleaning oven (the self cleaning is not working any longer) as well as prep my room walls for painting....please, please answer this question if you know of anything that would help me get these three things done and under control. I must also add I am handicapped somewhat with back sciatica and bone on bone knees so would like it not to weigh a ton, but steam, clean, and sanitize, and not leave things soaking afterward. Might also use it on my furniture to clean it....Thank you for reading this and answering. I must get something very soon to complete these tasks.

Hi, The Oreck steam cleaner sounds like what you're looking for. It washes walls counter tops, etc.. The steamer claims to be light, about 8 lbs. But, I'm like you disc and sciatica pain so I think everything is heavy. I'm sure Wal-Mart carries a brand that does the same. Just have to keep looking. Good Luck!

No the water dispenser for lack of a better term, would fall off.. I would think it would clean the wall IF the water holder would stay on however it wouldn't without some kind of unsuitable holding.. try a shark steamer made for that type of cleaning.

answer 1
I put my pads in a sink of warm water with some regular laundry detergent and let it soak. I then agitate and rub the pads until they appear clean. Rinse in plain cold water and air dry. Do not use fabric softener as it will decrease the pads ability to absorb.

There is a trigger on the underside of the handle. After the red light goes on you just push the trigger and the steam is released. The longer you hold the trigger, the more steam you get. You don't want to release too much though as it will saturate your pad and you will have wet spots.

I have never had a problem with that issue, but my daughter has. I went online to the Bissell website and found the answer to that. What happens is the tube gets clogged and you have to unclog it. My husband stuck a straighten paper clip up the tube about 4". Both times it worked. You can also talk to their customer service and they will help you. You do have to take the bottom of the steamer off to do this.
