I think this steam mop takes a bit of time to get used to it so don't give up. I bought mine around Thanksgiving. I just used it on my vinyl kitchen floor and it was fine. Then I decided to use it in my master bath, which is a problem area because of hair spray. I obviously used so much steam that I did end up with puddles. I should have changed the pad. It did do a great job cleaning the floor. If I end up with puddles again, I'll put an old washcloth on my Swiffer dry mop and use it to dry the floor.

Also there is a tiny seal on the thingie that fits into the water container. Make sure it is on tightly. And make sure the water container is pushed on tight or you might get some leakage. I also let the water heat up longer than the directions say.

could be your cup holder isnt in all the way? Or maybe you are pushing your button to long in one spot? I havent had any problems with mine and i just received it. I see the water on the floor but it dries very quickly. Not in puddles or anything.

we had same problem. we believe the water sloshing back & forth loosens the
joints. we used elastic around the container & tape between the filter & container.

I have a lot of laminate in my house and it does great. There is slight streaking, but not real noticeable. I am very pleased with it.

I've used it on laminate and experienced no problems. Works great every time so far.

I had a Shark canister unit. I agree with the other responses: It is cheaply made, and not very sturdy. I have a Bissell Steam mop, and it is solid, yet easy to manuver. Nothing has broken, and it won't likely fail under normal abuse.

I haven't used the Shark but just by looking at one on display in a store, the Shark looked like it wouldn't last long. The Bissell is much sturdier. I read lots of reviews on the Shark saying the handle broke in half right away.

Works great on my laminate. I have had no problems.

I know it says you can, but I would be careful. One of my friends sells flooring for a living and when I asked her about using a steam mop she said I could on my tile, but not to use it on hardwood or laminate. It won't cause problems that will show up immediately, but it will cause problems later. She didn't elaborate because I don't have either of those kinds of floors.

You sure can!!!:) The Bissell website sells something called Eucalyptus Mint Natural Aroma which you can add to the tank. They also sell a solution of it mixed with distilled water that's ready to use. I'm assuming the natural aroma is just a little vial of oil. If that's the case you can then use other essential oils. I'm not sure though b/c I would think that would leave the tank oily right?? Anyway, the answer is yes:)

I have owned a steam mop for over a year and also have had laminate flooring in my kitchen, for over two years. It is DuPont travertine stone looking not hardwood, but it is still the snap together laminate and as long as you don't let the water set on the flooring it works well. you cant let any water set on laminate flooring or it will lift. This will not happen if you use the machine properly. Hopes this helps.

I bought mine Nov 07 and it did come with an extra pad. Maybe they quit selling it with the extra pad now.
