I made dough for empanadas with this works well but not perfect you have to make sure to keep scrapping the sides to get everything really mixed well it does come with the dough hooks though

I guess you could but I wouldn't recommend it the bowl can swivel and make a mess the bowl won't stay in one spot you much better off just standing there watching it.

You can do other things while using this mixer but it is best to watch the mixer to make sure things are getting mashed, mixed or done properly as I had to use a spatula several times to get the mixer to mash.

If you walk away you might end up with a giant mess. The mixer/stand is not motorized, it turns by friction. The rotation of the bowl can be controlled by hand, but if you let the bowl go loose it spins like a top. (depending on what is in it) May not be a good idea.

The bowl is powered by the beaters and yes it sits on a turntable. It has 2 different adjustments, center and off center so it's easier to poor your ingredients in.
