My parents have the Airdyne, its a great bike. But for me, $400 (actually $528) extra won't go for an Airdyne. I'll be glad to spend under $100 and get this well made bike.
I've been eyeing the Stamina at our store, I had this model at one time but enjoyed biking outdoors and gave it to my cousin-she loves it. Well, I'm not riding my bicycle often enough :( so I'm getting another Stamina this evening at our store, we're well stocked. I have a steel bike, and keep it inside because of the humidity/rust where I live. I don't ride when its wet outside.
For the price, you can't beat it. The convenience of having it right there waiting regardless of weather and watching TV while getting a cardio workout to boot is a no brainer for me. Mine worked well, it's built well, I could stand on the pedals at times. I like to keep track of my time, calories burned, distance in a little memo book.
If you can't afford the extra money (I've seen them for $625 at the least), this one is a good deal, you can save for the Schwinn while working out with this bike.
Another thing, if I have any trouble with it (bearings make noise, etc., I'll bring it back to the store and exchange it for another one. I think the defective ones are few and far in between. For the money spent, this is a well made bike.

I just bought this bike and my mom has a schwinn airdyne.....i would say that if you are going to ride the bike everyday for a good amount of time that you might want to make the extra $400 investment. I can see that this bike is going to be good for me for a couple years but I will be expecting it to break after that with regular use. The best thing is that the airdyne you can take to many bike shops and have serviced...it will last you a lifetime. The airdyne is much heavier and much bigger.

Not sure I don't know anything about the Airdyne but the extra $400 seems to be too expensive for a low impact workout.
