Question

I have a regular bed, what do I need to put underneath the mattress to support it?

Does it require a platform or something? Would an air mattress be good for underneath?

It needs a firm platform, plywood cut to fit works best. Also a regular box springs will work. I would not try the air mattress as a foundation.

If you have a regular bed frame and box spring, then you can still use them. But your bed will be very high. I decided to purchase the Slumber 1 Steel Bed Frame due to the amount of under bed space it created. Between the frame and the mattress, I spent a total of 20 minutes putting them together. No hardware needed at all.

I have tried a shredded memory foam pillow. I like it because it keeps its shape and stays cool. The solid foam pillow was to rigid. brand name withheld out of respect to Wal-mart (they don't carry this expensive brand.)

Question

If you needed to get the King size, would it be bendable to take up a smaller space?

We just bought a house and our queen pillow-top mattress won't fit up our stairs because of the height of the ceiling. We need to be able to manipulate the mattress to fit up the staircase (also king's box springs are 2 twin sizes.. much easier to transport up the stairs). Anything would be helpful. Thanks

The king size comes packaged in a box that is about 2.5' x 2.5' x 4'. It weighs about 120 pounds. I rolled it up my stairs end over end on my own. It isn't vacuum packed. It is compressed, wrapped in plastic, and then put in a bag to hold its shape. Mine split the bag during shipping, so it started to expand as soon as I took it out of the cardboard box. Unfortunately, I had the bright idea of unpacking it the night before I planned on setting it up... one less step in the morning because we were setting it up before work to let it air out all day. Within in an hour it was expanded to the point that it was going to unfold itself, so we laid it out flat in our guest bedroom overnight. While moving it to our bedroom, it didn't seem to be any more flexible than my old spring mattress. So, make sure you have it where you want it before even taking it out of the box. Though, I doubt folding it in half would damage it like it would a spring mattress... learned that lesson the hard way as well.

This mattress is shipped vacuum packed. It will fill with air and become the finished size when you open the packaging. It will be heavy but should fit up any stairway.

I bought the twin size and it came rolled up inside a box that was at least 1/3 the size of the actual mattress. That may give you an idea of how the queen would be. However I do not know the actual dimensions

Does this mattress require box springs or is it designed to place directly on my bed frame

You can place it on the bed frame , however it may feel like sleeping on ripples. It works best with a solid platform. Box springs will work, but it works best with plywood on top of the boxsprings.

you want a solid support of the mattress, you do not want large gaps where the mattress can sack into. I have suggested cheapest method is a plyboard from homedepot or lowes

answer 3
Actually, you do not use a box springs for this style mattress. You are suppose to use the "better than box springs frame" or something similar to that frame. For my mattress I purchased 2x4's and plywood and made my own frame. I spent somewhere around 50 dollars on my homemade frame.

I don't have specific dimensions, but it fit perfectly in the bed of our Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It would not have fit in my Nissan Sentra, but would probably fit in the back seat of a midsize car. My wife & I (mid-50s) were able to carry it in the house. You would never guess there was a cal king in there.

It comes folded and rolled. The box is probaby 2'x2'x4'. It fit easily in my hatchback. The bigger concern may be weight... it weighs over 100 lbs and isn't easy for one person to get his arms around. I recommend a helper.

Zipper should be down definitely. If in doubt, press on the top and see if it's memory foam or not. The memory foam should be on top. On the new model as described the memory foam is a greenish color too, so if you take the cover off you can definitely tell.

When I got mine I flipped the bed to put the zipper down. It didn't seem right at the time as the zipper side seemed softer. Once it inflated it did seem right to have zipper down. I emailed the manufacturer to find out for sure. When I hear back I will give that information in my feedback for the bed. The instructions don't say one way or the other. I went by the Customer feedback and flipped the mattress.

Take the mattress cover completely off. It seemed like it kept the mattress from fully expanding. We left it off because to us it feels a little softer and more like the memory foam mattress we expected. Hope this helps. We love it!

We purchased 3 of these. The queen size 12" does not have any flat/hard spot anywhere and it performs as it should. One of the 8" twin size mattress for one of the kids was identical to the queen size and it was perfect. The other twin size 8" mattress had hard spots around the edges and corners even after 4 days. Not only was it flat all around the edges, but the memory foam was not performing like the others at all. The top memory foam layer felt just like regular foam. It almost had no "memory" to it. Purchased another one online and once that came in I rolled this one up, taped it in a roll and made a big box out of the two twin size boxes and took it back to walmart. I printed a return receipt to have with me. This was the only way I was able to fix the flat/hard edge problem. I don't think they should stay uncompressed as ours are now fine.
