Question

If you needed to get the King size, would it be bendable to take up a smaller space?

We just bought a house and our queen pillow-top mattress won't fit up our stairs because of the height of the ceiling. We need to be able to manipulate the mattress to fit up the staircase (also king's box springs are 2 twin sizes.. much easier to transport up the stairs). Anything would be helpful. Thanks

The king size comes packaged in a box that is about 2.5' x 2.5' x 4'. It weighs about 120 pounds. I rolled it up my stairs end over end on my own. It isn't vacuum packed. It is compressed, wrapped in plastic, and then put in a bag to hold its shape. Mine split the bag during shipping, so it started to expand as soon as I took it out of the cardboard box. Unfortunately, I had the bright idea of unpacking it the night before I planned on setting it up... one less step in the morning because we were setting it up before work to let it air out all day. Within in an hour it was expanded to the point that it was going to unfold itself, so we laid it out flat in our guest bedroom overnight. While moving it to our bedroom, it didn't seem to be any more flexible than my old spring mattress. So, make sure you have it where you want it before even taking it out of the box. Though, I doubt folding it in half would damage it like it would a spring mattress... learned that lesson the hard way as well.

This mattress is shipped vacuum packed. It will fill with air and become the finished size when you open the packaging. It will be heavy but should fit up any stairway.

Question

I have a regular bed, what do I need to put underneath the mattress to support it?

Does it require a platform or something? Would an air mattress be good for underneath?

It needs a firm platform, plywood cut to fit works best. Also a regular box springs will work. I would not try the air mattress as a foundation.

If you have a regular bed frame and box spring, then you can still use them. But your bed will be very high. I decided to purchase the Slumber 1 Steel Bed Frame due to the amount of under bed space it created. Between the frame and the mattress, I spent a total of 20 minutes putting them together. No hardware needed at all.

I bought the twin size and it came rolled up inside a box that was at least 1/3 the size of the actual mattress. That may give you an idea of how the queen would be. However I do not know the actual dimensions

You can place it on the bed frame , however it may feel like sleeping on ripples. It works best with a solid platform. Box springs will work, but it works best with plywood on top of the boxsprings.

you want a solid support of the mattress, you do not want large gaps where the mattress can sack into. I have suggested cheapest method is a plyboard from homedepot or lowes

Actually, you do not use a box springs for this style mattress. You are suppose to use the "better than box springs frame" or something similar to that frame. For my mattress I purchased 2x4's and plywood and made my own frame. I spent somewhere around 50 dollars on my homemade frame.

Actually if you read up on this, it seems as if it USED to be 5lb, which is probably where all the good reviews came from, and now it is 3.5. And a customer rep saying that 3.5 feels the same as 5.3.
WRONG. The heavier lb density is what makes the better bed, as seen in the tempurpedic with its 5.3 lb top layer. The lower you go in this number, the lesser the quality. Be advised, they have changed the quality of this bed. So when someone answers 5lb, that is no longer correct.
The 12" is now a 3 inch layer of 3.5 lb, and a 3 inch layer of softer cheap foam, then a 6 inch layer of just foundation foam. This is why some people are saying this bed is firm and some are saying they are sinking in.
Same name, different cheaper mattress.

Zipper should be down definitely. If in doubt, press on the top and see if it's memory foam or not. The memory foam should be on top. On the new model as described the memory foam is a greenish color too, so if you take the cover off you can definitely tell.

When I got mine I flipped the bed to put the zipper down. It didn't seem right at the time as the zipper side seemed softer. Once it inflated it did seem right to have zipper down. I emailed the manufacturer to find out for sure. When I hear back I will give that information in my feedback for the bed. The instructions don't say one way or the other. I went by the Customer feedback and flipped the mattress.

The mattress can handle as much weight as you can fit on it. It is a more of a question of- how much weight can the bed frame hold. The more weight the more unevenly the matress with wear with time. But, say it was on the floor, you could put the fattest person in the country on it.

Since there are no moving/breakable parts in these mattresses than simple physics would determine that it hold however much weight your bead frame does.

Unfortunately no, the mattress will not get firmer. It's a soft mattress and depresses under body weight, although I wouldn't call it very soft and my sleep has been just great on this mattress. I used to have a 6" coir-form mattress so that's my comparision point in terms of firmness - that one was firm in my view.
